Frank & Fiona Gallagher Make A Baby? ‘Shameless’ Stars William H. Macy & Emmy Rossum Joke ‘It Could Happen’
Season 8 of Shameless is coming, and fans couldn’t be more excited. The real question fans of the Showtime series have at this point is simple: What’s going to happen to Frank and Fiona Gallagher next season?
As the Inquisitr reported earlier today, co-stars Emmy Rossum and William H. Macy – known for their roles as Frank and Fiona Gallagher – recently opened up about Emmy’s decision to fight for equal pay. During the interview, Emmy explained that she completely understood why Macy received more money during Shameless’ first few seasons. As the series progressed, however, Emmy thought she was entitled to equal pay. Given her character was just as powerful and important to the show, it just didn’t feel right for Rossum to receive less money.
Emmy Rossum had no intention of walking away from the series, as she claims her co-stars are her second family, but she needed continuing to play the role of Fiona Gallagher to “feel right” as she mentioned several times during the interview. Vulture shined a spotlight on the fact that William H. Macy had nothing but support when it came to Emmy Rossum making the same amount of money as himself. He described the dispute as a “no-brainer” and a “silly discussion.”
As Shameless fans know all too well, Emmy Rossum had no trouble working out a salary she considered to be fair, as the Showtime series was scheduled to start filming this month. During the interview with Vulture, Emmy didn’t seem to be as afraid of the show coming to an end as some Shameless fans were. She claimed to feel pretty confident she wasn’t going to go anywhere.
It was toward the end of the interview with Vulture where things took somewhat of a weird turn. Emmy and William stumbled onto the topic of babies. Rossum clarified there would be “no more babies.” William, however, decided to take things a little further, and this is where the conversation got a little bizarre. Macy questioned whether it was he and Emmy that would be having babies together. While Emmy quickly shot down the statement and awkwardly laughed it off, Macy couldn’t help himself.
“It could happen.”
Yes, you read that correctly. William H. Macy actually cracked a joke about his character, Frank Gallagher, and Emmy’s character, Fiona Gallagher, having a baby. Given the fact that Frank is the father to Fiona, Shameless fans can only hope the statement Macy made regarding “it could happen” is nothing more than a joke. Those who follow the Gallagher family closely might be inclined to give this joke a little more thought.
Frank is no stranger to getting so strung out on alcohol or drugs that he ends up in some ridiculous situations. Macy’s character is also no stranger to getting so drunk he ends up doing things he probably wouldn’t have while sober. Take is intimate run in with Karen as a prime example.
With the exception of Season 7 of Shameless, where Fiona really seems to have turned herself around, Emmy’s character has always gotten around when it comes to men. As disgusting as most Shameless fans are going to find the idea of Frank and Fiona having a baby together, Macy’s statement of “it could happen” isn’t that much of a stretch. Given the personalities behind Emmy and William’s characters, it really could happen if they were wasted enough.
How would you feel if Frank and Fiona had a baby together during Season 8 of Shameless? Do you think Emmy Rossum and William H. Macy would be able to overcome the awkwardness of an intimate scene together? Share your thoughts on this bizarre joke regarding Season 8 of Shameless in the comments down below.
