Appirio Builds Cloud Leadership with Key Executive Appointments

SAN MATEO, Calif. – September 23, 2009 – Appirio (www.appiro.com), a cloud solution provider, today announced that Matt Thompson, senior vice president of worldwide field operations at Adobe, has joined its Board of Directors. In addition, Appirio announced management changes to focus its organization on enabling “Cloudsourcing.”

Adobe’s Matt Thomson Joins Board of Directors
Matt Thompson leads Adobe’s efforts to capitalize on long-term growth opportunities and align the company’s sales and support organizations with key customer segments. He also has significant experience with enterprise technology adoption and large scale IT operations through executive positions at Borland, Calico Commerce, Cadence and EDS.

“Many enterprise customers want to take advantage of cloud computing and require an experienced partner to help guide and manage their transition to cloud platforms,” said Chris Barbin, CEO of Appirio. “We are excited about adding Matt’s expertise to the board because he understands the complexities of large-scale IT and how to pragmatically deliver innovation to enterprises. Matt’s experience will help Appirio shape a cloudsourcing strategy that addresses a broad range of technology and business issues facing CIOs, CFOs, and CEOs.”

Appirio Focuses Organization to Enable “Cloudsourcing”
Over the past three years, Appirio has helped more than 150 enterprises adopt SaaS applications and build custom applications on cloud platforms from salesforce.com, Google, and Amazon Web Services. The next step is to help enterprises “cloudsource” all of IT. Cloudsourcing combines traditional outsourcing with the benefits of cloud computing to give companies a flexible platform to grow their businesses at a much lower TCO. Rather than simply outsource a company’s legacy IT infrastructure and applications, cloudsourcing actively moves them to the cloud.

To enable this change:
· Co-founder Glenn Weinstein takes on a new role as Appirio’s chief technology officer. Over the past two years, Glenn has driven success of the largest cloud computing projects in the world and has helped Appirio internally create and adopt technologies needed to become the world’s largest ‘serverless enterprise.’ As CTO, he will set the technology vision for Appirio’s customers and help Appirio become the ‘cloudsourcing lab of the future’ – creating and spinning out technologies that will allow customers to more quickly run their entire business in the cloud, for a fraction of the cost of today’s alternatives.

· Ryan Nichols takes on a new role as Appirio’s head of cloudsourcing and cloud strategy. Previously responsible for product management and marketing, Ryan’s new role will focus on broader solution management that addresses the needs of the CIO, CFO, and CEO in transitioning entirely in the cloud. His product focus at Appirio, combined with his experience in SAP’s Corporate Strategy Group and at McKinsey & Company, will allow him to address the operations, financing, strategy and execution of cloudsourcing for enterprise customers.
