‘Harry Potter’ Star Daniel Radcliffe Discusses Dark Drama ‘Horns’

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe recently sat down to discuss his role in the upcoming drama Horns, according to the Examiner.

In order to separate himself from the role that made him an international star, Radcliffe has recently accepted a number of un-Potter parts. In addition to appearing naked in the stage production of Equus a few years back, the actor has accepted the part in the upcoming horror movie Horns.

“It was both incredibly dark — like really dark and violent, and full of classic horror stuff — but also it has a very dry sense of humor,” Daniel Radcliffe explained to The Province. ”

In Horns, the Harry Potter alum stars as Ig Perrish, a man who awakens one morning to find a set of horns are growing out of his head. To make matters worse, the guy is now the prime suspect in the girl’s grisly murder. Internet Movie Database lists the movie as as containing horror, fantasy, and drama elements.

“It’s a metamorphosis story, but the thing that excited me was that tonally it wasn’t like anything I had read,” Radcliffe explained.

The film will be directed by Alexandre Aja, the man responsible for bringing the Piranha, The Hills Have Eyes, and Mirrors remakes to moviegoers over the past few years.

According to E! Online, Daniel Radcliffe will star alongside Mad Men’s Jon Hamm in the four-part miniseries A Young Doctor’s Notebook, a semi-autobiographical tale based on short stories by playwright Mikhail Bulgakov. Radcliffe and Hamm will play the same character at different stages in life.

A Young Doctor’s Notebook is currently slated to air in the UK this December. Unfortunately for stateside Radcliffe fans, a US release date has not been announced as of this writing.

Horns, which also stars Juno Temple and James Remar, will see the inside of a darkened theater sometime next year. Do you still associate Daniel Radcliffe with his role as Harry Potter?
