Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi , and Christina Aguilera will be playing a charity concert this week to benefit the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The hour-long telethon, dubbed Hurricane Sandy – Coming Together , will air Friday night on NBC and NBC.com. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the American Red Cross.

According to Reuters , Billy Joel and Sting will also be playing at the charity concert. The event will be hosted by Matt Lauer and will feature appearances from Brian Williams and Jimmy Fallon.

Hurricane Sandy is expected to be one of the costliest storms in American history. According to the NY Daily News , the storm may cost as much as $50 billion.

More than 7 million homes lost power, close to 70 percent of the oil refineries experienced damage, and more than 80 people were killed during the storm.

You can make a donation to the Red Cross to help relief efforts on the east coast by going to RedCross.org . You can also text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.

The NY Daily News reports that NBC hosted a similar event in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina. That event raised about $50 million.

Hurricane Sandy – Coming Together will air Friday at 8 pm EST on NBC, USA, MSNBC, CNBC, Bravo, E!, Style Network, and G4.
