Ohio Cops can now Legally Rip-Off Your Car Stereo

Council officials in the city of Lorian, Ohio have recently passed an ordinance to deter motorists from playing loud music in their cars, by giving Police the power to seize stereo equipment from your vehicle on the first offense.

Along with stiff fines of up to $500…

The new law calls for seizing and impounding the car’s sound equipment on a first offense.

If a police officer cannot easily remove the device at the scene, then the car will be towed and impounded for up to five days so city mechanics can remove the stereo equipment. The violator must pay for the tow and the stereo removal work.

If fines are not paid within a 90-day period, the offender faces forfeiting the sound equipment and the car to the city.
