Jill Duggar And Derick Dillard Use Pregnancy To Score More Mission Trip Money, Promote Anti-Abortion Agenda

Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard are asking fans to help them with their mission work by donating to their family ministry, but now that Jill is pregnant, it could be a long time before the couple returns to the mission field.

Shortly before People broke the news that Jill Duggar and her husband are expecting their second child, the couple used four of their social media pages to direct their fans’ attention to the new video slideshow on their family website. The slideshow features photos taken during Jill and Derick’s year-long mission trip to El Salvador and short descriptions of the work that they were doing there. The Counting On stars have been back home in Arkansas for over four months, and they probably won’t return to the mission field until sometime after Jill Duggar gives birth in July. However, the couple is still asking fans for money.

“We posted a new ministry slideshow with lots of photos on our website! Go to www.dillardfamily.com to see how you can be involved!” Jill Duggar wrote on Instagram.

Similar messages were shared on Derick Dillard’s Instagram page and both Jill and Derick’s Twitter pages. The “ministry slideshow” video also ends with a call for fans to visit the Dillard Family website to learn how they can support the couple.

So how can Duggar fans “get involved” with the couple’s ministry? According to the Dillard Family website, there’s just one way to help: Fans must fork over their hard-earned money. There’s only one link under the website’s “Support” header, and it goes directly to the Dillard Family Ministries donation page. However, now that Jill Duggar is pregnant, fans are beginning to wonder exactly when she and her husband are planning on putting their donated money to use.

“Will you be returning to Central America after the baby is born?” one of Jill’s Instagram followers asked.

Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard initially said that they would be returning to the mission field in the fall. However, as Us Weekly reports, they later stated that they would likely change their plans if Jill got pregnant.

As Entertainment Tonight reports, Jill and Derick have been criticized for taking fans’ money and spending it on what many view as a glorified vacation. According to the Hollywood Gossip, some critics have asked for evidence that the reality show stars were working to improve the lives of the impoverished people they were interacting with, not just preaching to them and trying to convert a small number of Catholics to the Duggars’ preferred brand of Christianity.

Derick and Jill are likely hoping that their new slideshow video will prove that their fans’ donations did not go to waste. The photos in the video show Derick talking to various groups of people, handing out religious tracts, and participating in Bible studies and baptisms.

Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard have revealed that the only real ministry work they’re doing while they’re back in the States is taking Bible classes. They’re currently staying in the Duggars’ gigantic guesthouse, so they don’t need donated money to pay rent. They also have their Counting On paychecks to cover other living expenses, so it’s unclear what they plan on doing with their fans’ donations while they’re back home.

Jill and her husband aren’t just using the interest in her pregnancy to score more money for their ministry — they’re also using it to promote their anti-choice agenda. In his follow-up tweet to the announcement that Jill is pregnant, Derick equated abortion to murder.

“‘You shall not murder.’ -Exodus 20:13 Abortion = murder = sin,” Derick wrote.

The tweet angered many of Derick’s Twitter followers.

“When you have a uterus you can have an opinion. Until then, women’s lives & choices are none of your business.” @timimanyo wrote.

“How do you ‘murder’ a clump of cells? If that’s the case, then removing a tumor is murder, too,” @Miss__Tina tweeted.

“If Jill had complications early on, you’d choose both death of fetus AND your wife?” @SaraIrvine1977 asked.
