Selena Gomez Confirms She Is The Face Of Coach On Instagram While Unveiling New Haircut
Selena Gomez was rumored to have signed a $10 million deal with Coach earlier this month and on Saturday, the 24-year-old singer and actress confirmed she is, in fact, working with the brand on Instagram to her fans and followers.
Following a career hiatus months ago, Selena Gomez was said to have landed a deal with Coach in which she would appear in ads for the brand — and design a new line of merchandise.
“Being able to create is my favorite thing in the whole world,” Selena Gomez wrote in the caption of her December 17 photo. “I’m so excited to be a part of the vision and family @coach AND I get the honor to design with @stuartvevers -ahhhhhh.”
In her Instagram picture, Selena Gomez is seen holding a brown bag with a red tag, which includes her monogram, “SMG.” Meanwhile, her hair, which is noticeably shorter, is pulled back into a loose updo.
Selena Gomez took a break from the spotlight earlier this year after going through a rough time during her “Revival World Tour.” In mid-August, following a show in Auckland, New Zealand, and an online fight with her former boyfriend, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez released a statement to People magazine which confirmed the end of her tour.
“As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” Selena Gomez explained in the statement. “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”
“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support,” she continued. “You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues.”
Selena Gomez remained out of the spotlight for months and during this time, she reportedly checked herself into a rehab facility in Tennessee. As Us Weekly revealed to readers at the time, Selena Gomez traveled to the location to focus on her mental health.
While the chosen facility was not named, the magazine described the rehab center as a “private and quiet place,” but “super intense,” and noted that Selena Gomez can go to a “very dark place.”
In November, after reportedly leaving the facility, Selena Gomez attended the American Music Awards, where she delivered an emotional speech to fans while accepting the award for Best Female Artist: Pop/Rock. During the show, Selena Gomez wore a stunning red dress with her long hair in a pony tail.
In her speech, Selena Gomez explained that she had to pump the breaks on her career because she had let herself down. She also gave a nod to her 2014 performance (when she sang “The Heart Wants What It Wants”) in which she revealed she was as honest as she’s ever been.
News of Selena Gomez’s deal with Coach first hit the web last week. At the time, a Page Six report claimed she had landed “a huge $10 million deal,” which would require the singer and actress to design her own line — and become the face of the luxury brand.
Since returning to the spotlight, Selena Gomez has kept a low profile. Although she was seen in Los Angeles a handful of times in the past several weeks, she has only shared two updates on social media and when it comes to new music, nothing has yet been released.
