Why The Madonna And Michael Jackson Love Team Failed To Materialize

Madonna and Michael Jackson apparently were on their way to becoming a couple—until Madonna criticized the King of Pop’s fashion style.

Madonna has been hot this week after her Carpool Karaoke session with James Corden. But apart from the extraordinary singing and the unexpected twerking, what really drew attention to the age-defying phenomenon that is Madonna is the secret she revealed regarding her relationship with the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, which was a tad bit more than innocent.

Madonna and Michael Jackson had a history of a very weird relationship that in 1991, People even published the couple on its cover with the title “Michael & Madonna: The Oddest Couple,” Buzzfeed reported in 2013. Do you remember that much-publicized date between Madonna and Michael Jackson in 1991? That dinner date at The Ivy, followed by a controversial entrance at the Academy Awards, and the rumors of a duet on Michael Jackson’s “Dangerous” album—1991 was indeed the height of the Madonna-MJ love team.

But after all the hype after Madonna and Michael Jackson, the truth was, they never really became an item. After their tandem roared to flames, the fire just died out with a snuff and never to be heard of again. But years after Michael Jackson’s passing, Madonna reveals that there really was something between her and Michael Jackson in the past.

In a reply to James Corden’s question, “Did you kiss [Michael Jackson]?” Madonna answered with the following.

“So you want me to kiss and tell then, don’t you? Of course. I mean, baby, I’ve been around.”

Apparently, Madonna’s silence about the matter wasn’t really planned. It’s just that she was never really asked. She even goes into detail about the kiss they shared.

“Cause he was a little bit shy. However, he was a willing accomplice. I did get him to loosen up with a glass of chardonnay. And it did. It worked wonders.”

Is this everything that there is to the Madonna-Michael Jackson love team? Well, apparently not. Confidential contributor Flo Anthony, an old Jackson family friend, tells New York Daily News that he has some information on Michael’s side of the Madonna-MJ love story.

“[Michael] told me back then (in the early ’90s) that she’d spent the night at Neverland. He also told me that she’d told him if they were going to start dating, she wasn’t going to Disneyland, his favorite place.”

And in truth, even Madonna was never privy to why Michael Jackson decided not to pursue her. The real reason, apparently, why the Madonna and Michael Jackson love team never really materialized was because of the Material Girl’s public criticism of the King of Pop—and you should never ever say you don’t like Michael Jackson’s style, lest you end up on his Ignore List as Anthony reveals.

“The reason their relationship didn’t stick was because she did an interview on TV saying she would like him to get a new look and she wanted to get him out of those buckles. He was livid that she criticized him on TV.”

This, apparently, was the spark that blew out the flames of Madonna and Michael Jackson’s budding romance, and even their friendship.

Anthony added the following.

“I’m not sure, but I don’t think he ever spoke to her again. He was mad as hell!”

Madonna has only ever opened up about her friendship with Michael Jackson on the 2009 VMAs, in an emotional tribute to Jackson following his death. The Sun writes Madonna’s words of Michael Jackson.

“There is no question that Michael Jackson was one of the greatest talents the world has ever known.

“That when he sang a song at the ripe old age of 8, he could make you feel like an experienced adult was squeezing your heart with his words…That the way he moved had the elegance of Fred Astaire and packed the punch of Muhammad Ali…

“That his music had an extra layer of inexplicable magic that didn’t just make you want to dance but actually made you believe that you could fly, dare to dream, be anything that you wanted to be. Because that is what heroes do.

“And Michael Jackson was a hero.”
