Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are not divorcing despite the dozens of online rumors suggesting otherwise, pal Jonathan Cheban told reporters at a recent event.
Jonathan Cheban -- a long-time friend for Kim Kardashian -- debunked the rumors about Kardashian and West divorcing while attending the New York City Jingle Ball concert, Us Weekly reported. Instead, the couple is looking turning their attention to 2017, with New Year's Day less than three weeks away, Jonathan Cheban explained.
"Well, I can tell you the divorce is not happening. I was so surprised when someone asked me that on a red carpet... Kim and Kanye are looking forward to the new year, new changes. They're going to be great."
The Mirror also reported that Jonathan Cheban had been in contact with Kardashian and West earlier that day to ensure the social media queen and her husband were doing well. Jonathan Cheban admitted he had seen Kim Kardashian and Kanye West through video chat, adding to his decisive rebuttal to the divorce rumors.
"I just FaceTimed with Kim and Kanye and everyone's talking about some divorce rumors and I was laughing because I didn't hear that all day and I guess everybody else apparently here did and it's so funny to me because it's so not true."E! News added further comments that Jonathan Cheban had made to debunk the Kim Kardashian and Kanye West divorce rumors.
"They're in good spirits. I don't want to talk much about them because it's not my business but I do have to say that the divorcing is kind of hysterical, that I will mention, because I just spoke to both of them on FaceTime literally before I was coming here and when I heard that I literally burst out laughing."
Additionally, Jonathan Cheban told reporters that Kanye West was recuperating nicely from the mental health issues that plagued the rapper recently and caused the "Famous" artist to cancel more than 20 stops on concert tour.
"[He is] doing much better," Jonathan Cheban said of Kanye West, adding "we're all looking forward to the new year."
Cosmopolitan identified where the source of the Kim Kardashian and Kanye West rumors had originated. After Kanye West had decided to check himself into a hospital, online reports suggested that Kim Kardashian had moved in with the couple's children into Kris Jenner home. Before Jonathan Cheban debunked the divorce rumors, an unnamed source for the Us Weekly article claimed that Kim Kardashian was preparing for divorce from Kanye West in the immediate future. Another article from the same publication insisted that Kim had already made the necessary arrangements to avoid West, including keeping her kids from seeing their father.
"Kim has spent the last few days at Kris' house with the kids. The kids were there during Kanye's hospitalization and are very happy there. Kim really wants to protect the kids and will do everything she can to see that that happens. Kanye has not seen the kids very much since he was released and Kim does not think he should. She has no plans for them all to live together."Both articles pointed to the robbery in Paris as a reason Kardashian and West had started to grow apart. The incident had strained the relationship between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, and the articles had even pointed to the trauma from that incident as the reason West had suffered his mental breakdown.
