‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Spoilers: Review Of Bacta Tank Trailer Scene Pre-Darth Vader Suit?

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer had some notable scenes. A review of the first one and the recent creature featurette gave way to the rumor, spoiler, and speculation train.

A Darth Vader Flashback Imminent?

In Rouge One’s recent creature featurette behind one of the actors wearing a partial creature costume, there was spotted a human-like prop with severed limbs and a mask that’s much similar to the equipment that Luke Skywalker was wearing in The Empire Strikes Back when healing in a Bacta Tank, according to Star Wars News Net. There is even concept art pinned up on the board with one of the pictures showing the lower half of the prop in black. Could that be just a portion of Darth Vader armor?

A flashback to the first teaser trailer showed what appeared to be a cylindrical object with two Imperial guards and a robed figure in the foreground. It was speculated to be a bacta tank much like the one speculated for Rogue One. The complexion of the disfigured prop was rather fair and bodes a similar resemblance to that of Anakin.

Bacta Tank Connection To Old Trilogy?

If Empire Strikes Back fans may recall, there was a scene where Luke was severely injured by a Wampa on the ice planet Hoth. He was then submerged into a Bacta Tank which is reserved for those who suffered severe injuries. Considering that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will have its flashbacks incorporated into this flick, could this prop very well be Anakin Skywalker shortly after his volcanic injuries via his fight with Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith?

There had been fan theories of a young Supreme Leader Snoke in the tank, but was debunked by Lucasfilm and by Creative Executive on LucasFilm’s Story Group, Pablo Hidalgo. Apparently, he answered a canonical question regarding the Snoke rumor and he outright said it was false, according to Outer Places.

Other Flashback Possibilities

There’s also the thought that Darth Vader incurred injuries in the animated Star Wars Rebels season two and questioned if even his injuries were from his former Padawan Ahsoka Tano. Although this is just an animated series and not live-action, it seems rumor mill creators are pulling out all the stops within the canon.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was said to have flashbacks that would be helpful for the flick’s “plot points and back stories.” That said, do you think the audience will be “caught up” in a flashback sequence pointing out what happened between Anakin’s injuries in Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One?

Taken from a book called Lords of the Sith, it acknowledges further focus on Anakin’s pain therapy by focusing his hate even further making him a true servant of the Dark Side. It’s pretty telling and twisted how he embraces the pain and self-awareness of his severed limbs and focusing in on that to hone his force utilization.

“Vader completed his meditation and opened his eyes. His pale, flame-savaged face stared back at him from out of the reflective black transparisteel of his pressurized meditation chamber. Without the neural connection to his armor, he was conscious of the stumps of his legs, the ruin of his arms, the perpetual pain in his flesh. He welcomed it. Pain fed his hate, and hate fed his strength. Once, as a Jedi, he had meditated to find peace. Now he meditated to sharpen the edges of his anger.”

This would make sense that such a rumor, if it were even true, would appear in a Star Wars stand-alone movie. So would this tweet suggest fans will find out what Supreme Leader Snoke is all about in Star Wars Episode VIII and IX? That remains to be seen as he’s only been featured in The Force Awakens and commanding to bring back Kylo Ren to further his training.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story debuts Dec. 16.
