Mariah Carey Talks About Nick Cannon And Their Co-Parenting Strategies, Tight-Lipped About New Man

Mariah Carey has had one busy year when it comes to her hot career and her relationship drama. The diva separated from Cannon back in late 2014, yet the two did not finalize their divorce until recently. While Carey and Cannon were working toward their divorce, Carey began a whirlwind romance with billionaire James Packer, and the two became engaged in January of this year

Unfortunately, the wedding was not to be as the two parted ways two months ago when Packer dumped Mariah due to differences. Carey has reportedly been insisting that the billionaire gives her the $50 million that was intended to be a part of their prenuptial agreement.

As for Nick and Mariah, the two have remained amicable since their split, and even though the news that Nick will be a father after impregnating one of his recent girlfriends made the diva a little bit down, the former couple stays strong with their bond for their twins, Moroccan and Monroe. Mariah spoke on Today to Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford about how they work things out for their kids.

“We just saw each other for Thanksgiving, actually. It’s important for the kids. He’s part of their lives forever.”

Mariah’s brand new eight-part docu-series, Mariah’s World, is to premiere this Sunday. It will air on E!. Carey told the Today hosts that although she keeps busy with her career, the well-being of her children come first to her and Nick.

“I wanted to make sure … that they were comfortable at all times,” says Carey, whose kids will appear in the series. “I never wanna be a stage mom. Like, that’s not me. Actually, I wasn’t going to have them in the docu-series at all. But they were with me — they’ve got their activities [and there’s] so many different things that they’re learning [that are] really invaluable.”

The show is set to give Carey’s fans a look into the singer’s Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour that she just completed and also includes cameos from Cannon. The split from James Packer threw a bit of a wrench in the schedule and limited some of the footage to be included in the show. Yet the diva did not allow this to impact the production of the show. Packer was reportedly adamant that he not be in the docu-series. Entertainment Tonight shares about how the subject of the show was to make known how truly demanding Carey’s life is.

“The network originally said the show, which premieres Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, would focus on ‘the overwhelming demands of [Mariah’s] time as she launches her world tour, plans a wedding and is a loving doting mommy to her twins.’ However, Carey’s Australian billionaire ex was noticeably missing in the promos released earlier this month.”

Carey responded to breakup queries by stating that she is moving forward and not looking back.

“I can’t give somebody that much power,” she says. “Are you kidding me? … You gotta keep on pushing.”

It also seems that Carey has not taken much time pushing on as she was photographed on the beach in Hawaii canoodling with her backup dancer Bryan Tanaka. The songstress was tight-lipped on the subject, as People relays.

“I refuse to answer under the grounds that it may incriminate me,” she says.

“In other words, guilty as all get-out,” Gifford jokes.

“He’s cute, though, by the way, isn’t he?” Kotb encourages. “You pick cute men.”

“This is so pretty in here,” Carey says of the studio decorations, changing the subject. “Did you decorate that tree to match your ensembles?”

Mariah Carey has certainly had a few trials over the past couple of years, but the talented star keeps taking it all in stride and maintaining her poise as the superstar’s fans continue to adore her.
