Kanye West Released From Hospital After 9 Days, ‘He Is Home, Getting Some Rest’

Kanye West has been discharged from the UCLA hospital where he was admitted on November 21, according to People. The Life Of Pablo rapper had been under heavy supervision for exhaustion and sleep deprivation. Kanye remained in the facility over the Thanksgiving holiday. The unexpected hospital visit came after West canceled the remaining 21 dates of his tour.

Media outlets previously reported that West tried to resist being transported to the L.A. hospital and had to be handcuffed. However, sources close to the rapper told People that Kanye was not committed against his wishes. The source added, “He went to the hospital at will under the advice of his physician,” and the rapper “was not restrained” and “went freely.”

Kanye was being checked for severe sleep deprivation when it was ultimately decided that he needed to be admitted. It was confirmed by law enforcement sources that Kanye was hospitalized for his own safety, according to the Daily Mail.

The day before his release, Us Weekly reported that West made an attempt to record music from his hospital bed against the wishes of Kim Kardashian.

Kim, 36, was expected to make her first public appearance since the life-threatening Paris robbery last month. On Monday evening, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star made a last-minute decision to skip the Angel Ball at the Cipriani Wall Street in New York, according to TMZ. The ball was in honor of her late father, Robert Kardashian.

Kanye was also still reeling from Kim Kardashian being held at gunpoint in Paris. His television mogul wife jetted to Paris for a week of runway shows and to pay homage to all things couture in honor of the annual Paris Fashion Week. The source said the absence of his wife may have also contributed to Kanye’s recent breakdown.

“Without having Kim by his side during the tour as planned, Kanye wasn’t able to snap back. Kim being absent because of her own struggles seems to be why things are different with Kanye this time.”

In the recent years, West’s outspoken manner has received just as much attention as his music.

“This has been going on for years… In the past when Kanye seemed to struggle, no one took it too seriously. The attitude was more like it was just Kanye being Kanye.”

The source says eventually “things would go back to normal. This time is much different.”

Others insisted that a contributing factor to Kanye’s emotional distress is the anniversary of the unexpected death of his mother, Dr. Donda West. His mother died in 2007, nine years ago this month.

“His mother died in November, so this time of year always brings him a lot of pain.

“He keeps that pain internalized, but sometimes will talk about how hard this time of year is for him. He works through the pain every November.”

West halted his concert at the SAP Center in California to go on a 30-minute political rant.

“This is my platform and I’m going to talk about the paradigm shift that’s happening right now.

“There’s nonpolitical methods to speaking that I like, that I feel were very futuristic. And that style and that method of communication has proven that it can beat a politically correct way of communication. And I f***with that.”

Kris Jenner told Extra on Monday night that Kanye needed a break from the grueling tour.

“He’s exhausted, he’s just really tired. He’s had a grueling tour and it’s been a grind, so he just needs some rest.”

While preparing to walk Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Paris on Wednesday, Kendall Jenner had some kind words for her brother-in-law.

“Everyone’s okay… Everyone is doing okay — just praying… Yes, of course [he’ll be okay].”
