‘Sister Wives’ Spoilers: Kody Brown Tells Mykelti’s Boyfriend He Isn’t Ready For Marriage

It is officially time for a new season of Sister Wives and things are changing for the Brown family. The news is out that Maddie Brown is married and also expecting her first child. Along with that, this season Mykelti Brown will get engaged, but her dad Kody isn’t holding anything back. He doesn’t feel like the couple is ready and he wants them to know it. Us Weekly shared a preview for the new season of Sister Wives where Kody Brown tells Mykelti’s boyfriend exactly what he thinks.

Mykelti Brown is just 20 years old, and in the preview Kody talks to Tony Padron before he pops the question to Mykelti. Tony explains to the camera saying, “I definitely was nervous to ask Kody to step aside for me to go talk about Mykelti. I mean, who wouldn’t be?” Of course, everyone understands him being a bit nervous to talk to Kody, but Tony doesn’t know the family very well either. Caleb Brush was someone that everyone knew before he asked to marry Maddie, so he had an advantage going into it.

When Tony and Kody talk about it, Mykelti’s dad isn’t holding anything back. He explains his exact feelings to Tony. Here is some of what Kody has to say to him.

“I’d like to give you my blessing, but I’d like to give you just a couple requests.… One thing I would like — and this is going to be a hard one for you, I think — I would like your commitment that you would never discourage your children from plural marriage. I would never want my grandchildren being separated from me.”

So far, none of Kody Brown’s children have said that they want plural marriage, but Kody is just making sure that Tony can be okay with it if any of his children do in the future. Kody and his four wives have accepted that their children can take either path and they are fine with them doing what they feel is right for them. After that, Tony goes on to say how he is feeling.

“I notice that Kody didn’t say yes right away, so that was kind of a bummer. I respect Kody’s wishes because I was raised Catholic, and I converted to Mormonism back when I was 17. If I had been taught that other options aside from Catholicism were a bad thing, I may have never ended up where I am now.”

Kody Brown then goes on to explain to Tony that he feels like they need time before they get married. Kody would like them to wait 10 months to a year. It sounds like he is just a dad who is watching out for his daughter and wants what is best for her.

People actually shared a bit about Mykelti’s wedding shower that she just had. It looks like she still has big plans to marry Tony, but they haven’t shared exactly when it will be just yet. Mykelti Brown said it was a bit awkward opening gifts in front of everyone, but she loved having her friends and family there along with her future in-laws. The couple got engaged back in June, so it looks like they are going to be getting married soon. It might not be the 10 months that Kody Brown asked for, but it wasn’t a super quick engagement either.
