Angelina Jolie Returns To Spotlight Amid Nasty Split From Brad Pitt, Is Called Out For Broken Promises

After a month of seclusion, Angelina Jolie is finally making her back into the spotlight. The actress has yet to make a public appearance since her split from Brad Pitt, but she did release a new video. How did fans react to Jolie’s message?

Fox News is reporting that Jolie broke her silence with a recorded clip about the International Criminal Court. The Tomb Raider star voiced her support for a change in policy concerning children. (See video below).

“Successful prosecution and new legal benchmark, whether at the ICC or elsewhere, is a part of the long and vital generational effort,” she explained in the video while wearing a dark blazer. “That is the light in which I believe the court’s new policy on children should be seen.”

Jolie added: “I particularly welcome the commitment to include charges for crimes against children wherever the evidence permits as part of a more systematic approach. I congratulate the office of the chief prosecutor, and all those working on the policy.”

According to E! News, the ICC responded to Jolie’s video shortly after it was posted online, saying “#AngelinaJolie welcomes #OTP policy: Mankind owes to #children. We know we aren’t giving the best to children. #ICCProsecutor4Children #ICC.”

Based on the video, it looks like Jolie is moving on to her usual life following Pitt’s investigation by the Department of Child and Family Services. The DCFS just cleared Pitt of all the child abuse claims leveled against him.

A rep of Jolie released a statement shortly after the DCFS made the announcement. The actress was apparently “relieved” that the ordeal was over and is looking forward to focusing on the well-being of the family.

“Angelina said from the beginning that she felt she had to take action for the health of the family and is relieved that after their eight-week involvement, the DCFS is now satisfied the safeguards are put in place that will allow the children to heal,” the rep explained.

As far as Pitt is concerned, the investigation found that the actor did not abuse his children. Reports surfaced that Pitt got physical with his oldest son, Maddox, on a private plane ride. Despite the findings, Pitt still has to visit the kids with a therapist present.

After the conclusion of the investigation, the Allied star filed an official response to the divorce. Although Jolie requested full physical custody of the kids in the original petition, he asked for joint custody.

Pitt made his first public appearance since the divorce last week when he and Julia Roberts screened the film, Moonlight, together. He then showed up on the red carpet for the premiere of Allied.

“It’s really sweet, everyone has been really kind out here,” Pitt told reporters at the event. “It’s really nice to have all the support.”

Not everyone has been as kind to Angelina Jolie. According to Mirror, Jolie broke a promise to return to the orphanage where she adopted Pax in 2007. The actress allegedly told the staff at the center that she and Pax would “be back soon” to visit.

When asked if Jolie ever contacts the orphanage, let alone visit, staff member Nguyen Kim Xuyen said, “No, no, never.”

“We’re a government orphanage, so we always get their support. However, we still need more money to buy food and provide [the orphans] better living conditions. We only get [£43] per month, which is nowhere near enough,” she added.

Indeed, the facility is currently in bad shape and in desperate need for repair. For Angelina, who makes over $12 million per movie, a small handout could provide funding for years.

Even though Jolie visited Vietnam in 2011, she and Pax did not stop by the orphanage for a quick visit. Instead, she said, “We owe Vietnam a visit, because Pax is due.”

“Everyone is looking forward to them returning to Tam Binh,” Nguyen concluded. “We will meet again someday.”

Daily Mail reports that Jolie released a statement in the local newspaper after adopting Pax, whose original name was Pham Quang Sang. “I will stay at home to help Pax adjust to his new life,” Jolie said at the time. “I have four children and caring for them is the most important thing for me at the moment. I am very proud and happy to be their mother.”

Jolie and Pitt share six children together – Maddox (15), Pax (12), Zahara (11), Shiloh (10), and eight-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.

In light of all the criticism, Huffington Post reveals that Jolie’s ex-husband, Billy Bob Thornton, will always be there for her. While promoting his newest film, Bad Santa 2, Thornton admitted that he and Jolie have remained good friends despite their divorce over a decade ago.

“When you have a great friendship with somebody and you truly love each other, I don’t think that goes away just because you have different ideas of how you’re going to live your life,” he stated. “If she needs anything, I’m here. And vice versa. And we both know that.
