Real-Life GI Joe Dead

According to ID's Married With Secrets, Joe Gliniewicz' world started crumbling down the minute that Anne Marrin began auditing a youth program that Joe was overseeing. Fox Lake Police Explorer Post 300 was an exploratory program designed to mentor young people who desired a career in law enforcement.

Joe Gliniewicz had been involved in it for several years. But now there were questions about the way monies were being spent, and then suddenly, the Fox Lake police officer found himself in a bind.

In fact, that's what made his death so puzzling. Had someone killed him or had he set up his own death?

The answer to that question led to other questions and more discoveries of GI Joe Gliniewicz' seedy secret life.

Another Side of Joe

In September, 2015, the body of Joe Gliniewicz was found in the woods in Illinois. Just moments earlier, he had contacted dispatch to report three suspicious men in the area. He told dispatchers that he was watching them. Later, he placed another call indicating that he was following the suspicious men into the woods, near the swamp, Married With Secrets will report.

When police officers arrived, they were unable to find Joe. At the time, the marshy area was thick with brush, hindering their ability to see. They eventually found Gliniewicz' body in the weeds. He was lying in a pool of blood and had a gunshot wound to the torso. Another shot had also been fired near his hip area, and blood dripped from his mouth and nose.

Joe Gliniewicz' death immediately anguished the other officers in blue. The community also felt the impact of his death, along with his friends and family. But what no one knew at the time is that Joe Gliniewicz had set up the entire scene to look as if he had been murdered while on duty.

According to Married With Secrets, the investigation finally revealed that Joe Gliniewicz planned and carried out his own execution because his double life of indulging in pornography and stealing funds from the youth program, which he used for lavish vacations and fine dining, was about to be exposed.

Before deciding to end his own life, Joe Gliniewicz planned to hire someone from a local motorcycle gang to kill administrator Anne Marrin, according to Patch.

"She hates me and I've never said more than 3 sentences to her the year shes been here … hates the explorer program and is crawling up my ass and the program, chief wont sign off to move it to american legion and if she gets ahold of the old checking account, im pretty well f***ed."
