‘Dancing With The Stars’ Results Semifinals: Who Went Home Tonight? Four Couples Head To Next Week’s Two-Night ‘DWTS’ Finale

Who went home on Dancing with the Stars on Monday night and which four couples will be headed to finals week? With one week to go before the Mirrorball trophy winner is revealed, the couples put on some of the best performances of the season during the semifinals on November 14.

One couple was eliminated this week, but before host Tom Bergeron revealed who was going home, all five couples performed two rounds of dancing including one dance style the couple has not performed yet and a Trio Dance.

Who topped the leaderboard during the semifinals, which couples were in jeopardy, and who went home at the end of Monday night’s show? Here’s a recap of what happened during the semifinals. [Make sure you take our DWTS poll at the end of this post!]

According to ABC, the elimination that took place at the end of the show was based on a combination of judges’ scores and votes from viewers from last week’s “Showstoppers Night” performances.

All season, Tom Bergeron has stressed that voting for the couples is very important — fans’ votes can help keep a couple around even if they are at the bottom of the leaderboard. The same will go for finals week — votes from Monday night’s semifinals count towards the biggest two nights of the season and will help determine who faces off on the season finale on November 22.

Here’s how everyone scored this week.

Couples Dances

James and Sharna performed first on Monday night. After being out for two weeks with a knee injury, it was great to see James and Sharna back together on the dance floor. Julianne called their Argentine Tango “absolutely sensational” and they an almost perfect score — 29 (9-10-10)

Terra and Sasha’s Rhumba drew a huge round of applause and really wowed the judges. They earned the first perfect score of the night — 30 (10-10-10)

Jana and Gleb danced a Quickstep to “Go Mama” by Wayne Beckford, and all three judges thought they did a great job. Not enough to earn a perfect score, but perhaps enough to signal that they may be going to the finals? Score – 28 (9-9-10)

Calvin and Lindsay have been fun to watch all season — who can resist Calvin’s stellar smile and his great spirit on the dance floor? After their Tango, Julianne said there were “a few missteps,” but their performance was “well done” otherwise. Score – 26 (8-9-9)

Laurie and Val finished off the first round of dancing and her intro package was a tear-jerker. She explained that she was very close to her grandmother — sadly she passed away right after the segment was filmed. Laurie danced her heart out and her performance was rewarded with some great feedback from the judges.

Carrie Ann said she delivered her Foxtrot with “so much passion” and it was “beautiful to watch.” There’s no doubt that Laurie will make it to the finals — will she win the Mirrorball this season? Laurie and Val a perfect score — 30 (10-10-10)

Trio Dances

Scores from the trio dances were added to the scores above tonight.

James and Sharna danced a Jive with Jenna Johnson, complete with James’ race car in on the dance floor. He explained in the segment that the car saved his life in 2015 when he was in what Time calls a near-fatal accident on the race track. Julianne thought the performance was “so awesome” and Bruno said James was in “top gear” during the trio dance. Score — 30 (10-10-10)

Terra and Sasha danced the Tango with Arten Chigvintsev. Julianne said that Terra “slayed” the Tango and that she did. It was another perfect score for Terra and her guys — 30 (10-10-10)

Jana and Gleb danced with Alan Bersten and Carrie Ann said the the trio’s Paso Doble “artistry in motion” and said she had never seen Jana “so in control” on the dance floor. Score — 30 (10-10-10)

Calvin and Lindsay performed a Salsa to “Limbo” with pro dancer Witney Carson. Julianne called it “one spicy Salsa” and said it was “pure fun” to watch. The trio did a fabulous job with this performance. Score — 30 (10-10-10)

Laurie and Val were joined by Val’s brother, pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy for their Samba, the last dance of the night. Bruno called it a “super dance” and Carrie Ann said Laurie danced her “best dance” of the season. Score — 30 (10-10-10)

If you’re keeping track, here’s how everyone ranked on the semifinals leaderboard.

  • Laurie and Val — 30 + 30 = 60
  • Terra and Sasha — 30 + 30 = 60
  • James and Sharna (Jenna) — 29 + 30 = 59
  • Jana and Gleb — 28 + 30 = 58
  • Calvin and Lindsay — 26 + 30 = 56

Who Went Home on Semifinals Night?

Right before the end of Monday night’s show, Tom Bergeron delivered the bad news to one contestant who would not be heading to the finals next week.

Eliminated tonight with the lowest scores and fans’ votes from last week’s Showstoppers Night show were Terra and Sasha.

Laurie, James, Jana, and Calvin are all heading to the biggest two nights of the season next week. Although there has been plenty of buzz on social media that Laurie and Val will win, Jana told People that at this point, “it’s anyone’s game.”
