Powerball frenzy has hit the nation as the Nov. 12 jackpot climbed to a whopping $270.4 million. All Powerball drawings are held live from the Florida Lottery Studios in Tallahassee, Florida. Last night’s drawing aired at 1o:59 p.m. ET, and the winning numbers are 8, 17 20, 27, 52, the Powerball is 24. The PowerPlay is 2x. No one won the grand prize jackpot, causing it to roll to an estimated $293 million. The next Powerball drawing takes place on Wed. Nov. 16, 2016. Though there were no Powerball, grand prize winners to claim the jackpot, there were many other winners who are a little bit wealthier this morning. No one used the 2x Power Play, that would have multiplied all non-jackpot, Powerball prizes by two. There were three Match 5 winners who won $1 million each. The Match 5 winners live in Florida, New York and Pennsylvania. There was a total number of 903,794 Powerball winners in all tiers. The winners won a combined total of $9,561,718. Powerball games have nine ways to win and anyone who matches the red Powerball number will always win a prize. The odds of winning any Powerball prize are 1 in 24.87. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.

Powerball underwent a design change allowing for larger jackpots to be won. The changes went into effect in Oct. 2015, and since then, larger jackpots have grown. Jan. 2016, saw the largest Powerball jackpot in history when the jackpot grew to a mind-boggling $1,586,400,000.00. Powerball is a popular lottery game that appeals to people of all ages and backgrounds. Powerball tickets cost $2. At the time of purchase, some states allow players to add the Power Play option. The Power Play option multiplies the amount of non-jackpot prizes. The $1 million Match 5 prize is limited to $2 million while the other winning combinations are multiplied according to the amount of the drawn Power Play multiplier. The Power Play multiplier is available in 2x, 3x, 4x and 5x. A 10x Power Play multiplier was added to Powerball games in Oct. 2015, when the design changes went into effect.
