John Oliver: Trump ‘River Of Racism And Misogyny,’ ‘Really Stupid Hair,’ Chicago Cubs Precedent

John Oliver of HBO’s Last Week Tonight weighed in with his final thoughts before election day, tomorrow, Tuesday, November 8, on Republican nominee for president of the United States, Donald J. Trump.

A clip from the Oliver-election segment, which contains NSFW language, highlighted the fact that November 8 is the latest possible day a U.S. presidential election can be held. Elections are mandated to be held on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November. Last Week Tonight research revealed that Tuesday was chosen as the day for elections as a result of early American farmers requiring at least one day of travel time between the election and church on Sunday.

The Last Week Tonight host described a past week of “furious campaigning” on the part of both Trump and the Democratic nominee, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, with Clinton appearing with Beyonce and Jay Z, among other high-profile performers, at concerts in support of her presidential campaign. Oliver accused the former secretary of state of “ruining” one of Jay Z’s songs.

The host then moved on to the final Oliver-Trump analysis of the 2016 presidential election race.

The host started by referring to Donald Trump as the “human equivalent of a clear plastic bag filled with cheeseburgers and confederate-flag belt buckles.”

Oliver noted Trump’s apparent efforts to “restrain” himself while campaigning over the past week.

“Stay on point Donald. Stay on point,” Trump can be seen saying to himself at a rally, appearing unusually sedate. “No sidetracks Donald, nice and easy. Nice and easy.”

Watching the rally footage, John Oliver expressed the opinion that Trump’s “inner monologue” bears resemblance to what one might imagine a “serial killer” might be thinking when stalking victims.

Oliver stated that news had just broken that FBI Director James Comey had indicated that emails related to Hillary Clinton-aide Huma Abedin had been inspected and that the Democratic nominee would not be under further investigation concerning the matter, as reported by the Inquisitr.

The Last Week Tonight host played a clip of Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway’s reaction to the news.

“We have not made this a centerpiece of our campaign,” Conway can be seen in the clip.

“Seriously!” John Oliver boomed. “In the word cloud of your campaign, email is right up there with wall, Mexicans, big-league, unintelligible, sniffle, and wrong.”

The host implored U.S. residents to not only vote, but to prepare first. Oliver made sure to encourage those to vote in states even where they are certain of the outcome, because of the importance of down-ballot candidates. He held up Nebraska’s bill to repeal a previous repeal of the death penalty, essentially reinstating it, as an example of important issues that will be decided as a result of the 2016 elections.

Oliver encouraged Americans to Google “view my ballot” to learn about what is on the ballot in their local area.

The comedian expressed gratitude that the election would be over soon, because it had, rather than appealing to the “better angels” of U.S. society, “mocked their weight and called them sixes at best.”

“We are at a point where this man,” an image of Donald Trump was displayed over John Oliver’s shoulder, “has a genuine shot at the presidency; despite having blown up a political party, undermined confidence in our electoral system, declared open season on journalists, and unleashed a river of racism and misogyny.”

The host went on to express the belief that Donald Trump has “really stupid hair” to hoots and applause from the audience.

John Oliver then reflected on instances in his past, where he has tempted the possibility of a Trump presidency, such as when he was filling-in for Jon Stewart, hosting The Daily Show.

“Do it,” Oliver can be heard on a clip from The Daily Show, reacting to a clip played suggesting that Donald Trump was considering a presidential run. He went on to promise that he would personally contribute to the Trump campaign.

The audience booed in reaction.

The host then moved on to another time, working as a correspondent for The Daily Show, when he told Jon Stewart that “the Cubs will never, ever win the World Series.”

“I’m an idiot,” John Oliver defended himself.

Seriously, Oliver then held up how wrong he was about the Chicago Cubs as an example of how nothing is certain, imploring everyone to vote.
