WWE News: Is The Shield Reunion Finally Happening?

Fans of the WWE are waiting with bated breath to see if the latest WWE news about The Shield reunion is, in fact, true. And it looks like fans will be tuning in to WWE’s Raw, broadcasting live from Scotland, tonight to see if we’ll see Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins take the ring together one more time!

According to the latest WWE news report by Gamenguide, the questions about The Shield reunion first started rising when, during Hell in a Cell, Seth Rollins lost against Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship title. However, the only reason Rollins lost was because Owens had an “assist” from Chris Jericho. Considering that the rumors surrounding Roman Reigns all but confirm that he, himself, is gunning for the Universal Championship title, it seems like Rollins’ loss against Owens was deliberate.

When you consider, too, that Reigns has his slot against Team Blue in the Survivor Series pay-per-view event coming up this Thanksgiving, there’s a chance that the former teammates could face off against one another in a fight for a shot at the Universal title. Considering that, the last time the two were in the ring together, they stared each other down, not sure if they were going to fight, it should be interesting to see if these two either reunite or face off against each other tonight.

According to the latest WWE news reports from One India, however, it’s more likely that Reigns and Rollins will reunite if only to defeat Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens, though it should be interesting to see which one takes the title from Owens, if either take the title at all. Remember, the last time Roman Reigns won in a ring against Chris Jericho was because he had help from Seth Rollins, and “staredown” contests notwithstanding, their history in the ring together is not something that can be easily dismissed or forgotten.

In this regard, The Shield reunion will really only be for a temporary tag team match. Remember, too, that wrestling fans cannot have a full Shield reunion without Dean Ambrose, and given that Ambrose is currently on SmackDown — and dealing with his own set of problems — it’s highly unlikely that The Shield will fully reunite anytime soon.

When the WWE news about the potential Shield reunion first started surfacing, previous reports from the Inquisitr called into question if this move would, indeed, be a good one for Roman Reigns. Currently, he is the only Shield member who not only has a title, but a legitimate shot at getting a better title as well.

Wrestling fans know that Seth Rollins hasn’t been primed for a title shot in a long time, and Dean Ambrose is currently dealing with the fallout of getting his championship shot ripped away from him (however unfairly). And while Roman Reigns certainly has an image problem — one minute, he’s a heel, the next, he’s a face — people either love him passionately and see him as the future of wrestling, or hate him and wish he would leave the ring. However, his technical prowess in the ring cannot be denied. As he’s demonstrated with his several fights with Rusev, he has a better handle on the technical aspect of wrestling than the other two members.

In addition, of the three Shield members, only Roman Reigns has a genuine superstar quality — a quality that will only continue to rise as his profile in the WWE continues to rise. He is, as has been mentioned before, a member of the prestigious Anoa’i family of wrestlers, related to both The Usos and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (through the latter by marriage). So, even after his wrestling career is over, Roman Reigns will have a bright future ahead of him.
