B.A.P. K-Pop Comeback: TS Entertainment Boy Band Returns With ‘Skydive’ While Being Crowned Best Korean Act At ‘2016 MTV Europe Music Awards’ [Video]

When it comes to the K-pop music industry this year, it seems many of the boy bands are making their comebacks with a far more artistic direction than ever before, wherein some step out of the confines of performing only in box sets. Got7 did it with “Fly,” a song which its music video was beautifully shot in many open areas such as the helicopter pad on top of a building and an airport runway. EXO did it with “Lotto,” in which its music video was set generally in an underground gambling ring. Finally, BTS did it with “Blood, Sweat & Tears,” in which its music video was shot in what looked like rooms in a mansion where there’s a hallway filled with artwork and a ballroom.

Now the latest K-pop boy band to make their artistic K-pop comeback is B.A.P. The TS Entertainment act made their return with their song “Skydive” in which its music video looks like something out of a movie. Not only that, B.A.P. also won the award for Best Korean Act at the 2016 MTV European Music Awards (2016 MTV EMAs).

As many Hallyu websites like AllKpop and Soompi are claiming that the music video for “Skydive” is chock full of action and drama. It starts out with all the members of B.A.P. — Yongguk, Himchan, Daehyun, Youngjae, Jongup, and Zelo — walking towards a garage in what looks like the “bad side of town.” Upon entering, they come face-to-face with thugs and a leader shoving as much cash as they can into duffel bags. Unfortunately for them, they don’t get away with the loot as B.A.P. kills them and takes all the money. Afterward, the music part of the music video begins showcasing each B.A.P. member indulging in a life only attainable with disposable cash.

The money is divided up six-ways as there are six members of B.A.P., but it seems someone is after each one of them, wanting to take all the cash for themselves. To prevent spoiling the music video’s movie-like plot, I’ll just say the twist at the end is nothing new, but was cleverly directed.

“Skydive” is the title track song on the latest album B.A.P. has released, their second studio album titled NOIR. Since it just came out on November 7, 2016 KST, numbers on physical and digital sales of the album as well as digital sales of the single by itself are still being tallied up and calculated. Given the fact the last time B.A.P. released a full studio album was back in 2014, the sales numbers are expected to be high.

Along with the success and critical acclaim of NOIR and “Skydive,” B.A.P. was honored with being the “Best Korean Act” of 2016 at the 2016 MTV EMAs which was held on November 6 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, as reported by Soompi. To win the award, B.A.P. had to beat four other K-pop acts: GFriend, Got7, Vixx, and Twice. The fact they were able to secure the win is definitely an accomplishment when compared to Twice because they are dominating right now.

B.A.P. also made history that night be being the only K-pop act in history to receive the award twice. Other winners include EXO back in 2013 and BTS back in 2015.

For K-pop fans, especially those who identify themselves as BABY (official fan club for B.A.P.), their second studio album is available for purchase at YesAsia. Along with the regular or normal edition of NOIR, there are limited editions of the album featuring one member of the K-pop group. There is also an option to include a B.A.P. poster with the album. It is extended to all editions of NOIR too.
