Tim Tebow Could Play Running Back This Weekend, Says Rex Ryan

The New York Jets have two quarterbacks, and they aren’t quite sure what to do with them. This Sunday, Rex Ryan may put Tim Tebow in as running back.

Ryan said:

“That’s a possibility … The thing about Tim, with him being a football player like we’ve always talked about, by playing quarterback he knows all the positions. So can you plug him in at running back? Can you plug him in at tight end? I think the answer is yes.”

Ryan said that the former Mile High Messiah may not be as fast as the rest of the running backs, but he does have some power.

Ryan added:

“You start with his skill set, but his skill set would be more based on power … He’s not going to be a blazer compared to other running backs. He’s got power.”

Tebow has been used on the punt team as a quarterback, and as a blocker this season, and, with the Jets dwindling backfield, he could be called in for some short yardage plays.

According to USA Today, the Jets could play this Sunday without Joe McKnight and Bilal Powell, so seeing Tebow take a few hand-offs isn’t too much of a stretch. It isn’t likely, however, that he finds a permanent spot in the backfield.

Do you think Tim Tebow would make a good running back?
