Oprah Winfrey Releases Insane 2016 Favorite Things List: Would You Buy A $165 Cake Or A $395 Dog Blanket?

Oprah Winfrey has outdone herself once again. The media queen has released her 2016 Favorite Things gift list, and it includes dozens of decadent finds that are outside of the average Joe’s budget. People posted Oprah’s latest gift list, which boasts everything from a $16 key chain to a $1,500 smart TV.

Oprah Winfrey no longer has a daily talk show, but she has kept her popular Favorite Things tradition alive via her O Magazine. Some of the priciest selections on this year’s list include a $399 digital picture frame, a $400 hair dryer, and a $395 dog blanket. Oprah is a major dog lover, so it’s no surprise that she found a blanket that can be ordered with a customized image of the recipient’s pet, but the hefty $395 price tag means only wealthy dog owners will be getting this gift.

Winfrey always likes to include food on her Favorite Things list. While past picks have included gourmet popcorn and chicken pot pies, this year Oprah is on a strict Weight Watchers program. Still, that didn’t stop her from suggesting that fans pick up a $165 chocolate-and-vanilla mousse poinsettia flower cake that comes in an edible pot. Oprah also lists a $65 tin of holiday cookies, a $45 set of Southern grits, and a $99 bottle of wine as some of this year’s tasty Favorite Things.

Oprah’s first-ever cookbook, Food, Health, and Happiness, also makes the cut this year, as does a $250 gift sets of the collected works of William Faulkner, Toni Morrison, John Steinbeck, and Maya Angelou, four of Winfrey’s favorite authors. Winfrey also includes some of her favorite pajamas, this year from Burt’s Bees instead of her longtime staple Karen Neuberger. On the lower end of the list, fans can get can panda-shaped Bluetooth wireless speakers or an organic herb kit.

For the second year in a row, all of Oprah’s Favorite Things are available on Amazon, making shopping super easy — if you have the budget. Fans who can’t afford anything on Winfrey’s list may want to enter the 12-day Give-O-Way via Oprah’s magazine. Twelve readers will win every item on Oprah’s 2016 Favorite Things list. Oprah Winfrey has been celebrating the holidays with her personalized gift ideas for nearly 15 years. It was first presented as an annual segment on The Oprah Winfrey Show, and it was the hottest ticket in town. Rumor has it that even Brad Pitt’s mom couldn’t get a ticket to the super secret show taping.

Winfrey also switched things up a few times. In 2006, Favorite Things audience members were given a $1000 gift card and instructions to “pay it forward.” In 2008, Oprah included just homemade gifts and recipes due to the hard economic times. And in 2012, in a two-hour TV special, Oprah’s holiday must-haves were passed out to a group of deserving military spouses.

After the 2010 holiday season, Winfrey declared that her Favorite Things days were behind her. Her talk show ended the following May, so Winfrey decided to go out with a bang with a two-part episode, offering up diamond earrings, iPads, and Volkswagen Beetles to her lucky audience. While she has said that she could never top that final talk show extravaganza, in recent years, Oprah decided to keep the tradition alive, so now she releases her list through her magazine. Oprah Winfrey’s 2015 list included 87 items totaling a whopping $15,565, so there’s no doubt that her Favorite Things are still big business.
