Mariah Carey: Nick Cannon Reconciliation Likely After James Packer Split, Family Reveals

Mariah Carey could potentially be reconciling with Nick Cannon following her nasty split from billionaire James Packer, it has been revealed.

The singer was said to have been the one who dumped Packer a month ago over an incident that took place on his private yacht in Greece, Us Weekly alleges. Carey’s sources allege that the wealthy businessman had a shocking altercation with Mariah’s assistant that was completely deemed as unforgivable by her team.

Mariah’s camp has not elaborated on the actual details of the events on the yacht, but they were enough for Carey to ditch the billionaire for good, having branded him as a “violent man” with clear “mental problems,” sources reveal.

And while the relationship seems over for good, Mariah has been growing closer to her estranged husband Nick Cannon, who she infamously filed for divorce from two years ago.

According to Cannon’s father, James, the two have been spending a lot of time together as of late. Co-parenting has always kept Mariah and Nick on the same level. For the most part, they have actively tried to raise their children as a family despite the fact they are no longer together.

But James tells Hollywood Life that things have been different as of late. Mariah Carey has found herself in the presence of Nick Cannon more than usual, and while the duo often brushes it off as it being solely about the children, a source insinuates that they’re both willing to give their marriage another shot.

“Mariah and Nick are still very close and they still have a lot of love for one another,” Nick’s father tells the outlet. “They have already picked out their Halloween costumes, for both them and the kids, and this is a fun thing that they like to do together.”

“Both Nick and Mariah have busy schedules, but they will be doing their best to spend time with the kids over the holidays. I am proud of them as a couple and the way they have handled all the media speculation that constantly surrounds them.”

As previously revealed, Mariah Carey became frustrated with the fact that Nick Cannon wouldn’t sign off on the divorce papers since she was eager to get married to James Packer, but now that she’s officially done with the billionaire, she is somewhat relieved that Nick hesitated to sign on the dotted line.

While the 46-year-old remained very private about her love life with Packer, sources are now coming forward alleging that James had quite the temper, having grown tremendously jealous of certain backup dancers that Mariah Carey hired for her tour earlier this year.

James was under the impression that Carey was falling for some of her dancers and even confronted two of them in the midst of a show.

And while Mariah Carey has no plans of reconciling with James Packer in the near future, insiders stress that the “We Belong Together” hitmaker has every intention to keep the $10 million engagement ring she was presented with earlier this year.

The former couple had initially planned to tie the knot this summer, but due to the divorce delay concerning Nick Cannon, they decided to postpone the wedding until next year.

James and Mariah Carey haven’t spoken to one another since the yacht incident last month, and at this time, there’s nothing that James can do that will make Carey come back — but the ring will remain with her.
