Tom Cruise Defends Scientology! ‘It’s A Beautiful Religion’

Tom Cruise is probably the most famous member of the Church of Scientology, and his association with the organization has brought him numerous controversies. There were reports that David Miscagive’s group greatly influenced his divorce from his former wives Katie Holmes and Nicole Kidman. However, the Hollywood superstar’s exes never confirmed the reports. They probably know that they will get in trouble if they revealed the truth.

With the recent release of My Scientology Movie by Louis Theroux, the audience will finally learn more about this controversial religion and get a glimpse of how they treat their members. The British broadcaster was turned down when he requested to enter the headquarters. Instead of backing out, his curiosity motivated him to understand more what’s happening inside the Church.

With the help of the organization’s former second-in-command Mark Rathbun, they were able to re-enact what people had gone through in the hands of David Miscagive and other high profile members including the Mission Impossible star. Watch the trailer of the documentary below.

With all the controversies coming out about Scientology, Tom Cruise remained silent about those issues. However, the 54-year-old actor finally breaks his silence during the red carpet event of his latest film Jack Reacher 2: Never Go Back. According to Radar Online, the screen heartthrob praised the Church and revealed its positive effects on his life.

“It’s something that has helped me incredibly in my life, I’ve been a Scientologist for over 30 years,” he said. “It’s something, you know, without it, I wouldn’t be where I am. So it’s a beautiful religion, I’m incredibly proud.”

Aside from Louis Theroux’s film, HBO also released a documentary called Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, which was aired last year. According to The Washington Post, the two-hour documentary revealed the secrets of the religion as revealed by its former members and officials. The film showed the physical and psychological abuse that some of the members experienced. Watch the teaser below.

It also tackled the relationship of the Church to its famous members Tom Cruise and John Travolta. Apart from the star of Top Gun, the 62-year-old actor also defended his religion. During an old interview, he revealed what he likes most about being part of that organization.

“Probably my favorite concept of Scientology is a world without criminality, a world without war and a world without insanity,” Travolta said. “And I know of no other group that their goals are that clear.”

There were rumors that Tom Cruise would leave Scientology for Suri Cruise. According to HollywoodLife.com, the Hollywood superstar realized that he has been missing out on all of his daughter’s milestones during a phone call with her. He thinks that the only way he can spend more time with his little girl is by ditching his religion.

“She was going on and on about her ballet class and how much she loves it. That’s when Tom realized he’s never seen her perform ballet and he started to tear up,” an insider said. “It hit him that she’s growing up before his eyes and he’s not there to witness most of it. They talk on the phone and video chat, but it’s not the same.”

The source also revealed that Tom is facing a lot of pressure when it comes to his ex-wife and daughter because the Church doesn’t want him to get close to them. They have labelled Holmes as a Suppressive Person, which is a term they use for the organization’s enemy.

“He’s between a rock and a hard place, but he’s finally making a choice to put his daughter first,” the insider continued.

That report was released last year and until now Tom Cruise hasn’t been seen with Suri Cruise, not even during her last birthday. And with his recent comment on Scientology, it seems that he isn’t giving up his religion anytime soon.
