Selena Gomez Continues To Treat Depression And Anxiety, How Is She Coping With Lupus?

Selena Gomez is struggling with symptoms of Lupus, which include anxiety, depression, and panic attacks, and she is currently in rehab addressing her issues.

In August, Selena Gomez suddenly canceled her tour and cited her struggles with Lupus, which she was diagnosed with years ago, as the leading cause. Since then, she has been living in a Tennessee treatment center, where she is partaking in an “intense” program.

Selena Gomez was diagnosed with Lupus in 2013, and one year later, she entered a rehab facility. However, because she hadn’t come forward with her illness at the time, many believed she was struggling with an alcohol or drug problem. Then, after it was revealed that she was struggling with Lupus, those rumors quickly fizzled out.

Now, as Selena Gomez tends to her second stint in rehab, rumors are once again swirling in regard to her possible addiction struggles.

Selena Gomez’s decision to get treatment was triggered by a “downward spiral” during which the singer “couldn’t stop drinking and partying,” a source told In Touch Weekly magazine days ago.

According to the report, Selena Gomez’s mother arranged for her to get help at a facility far away from the prying eye of the media and Gomez’s fans and chose Brookhaven because it guaranteed Gomez plenty of privacy because it is surrounded by trees and fields. Still, as fans have surely noticed, several photos of Gomez at the facility have surfaced in the weeks since she entered treatment for what the magazine’s source said were issues of “alcohol abuse, excessive partying and her mental health.”

Before Selena Gomez arrived at Brookhaven, In Touch Weekly claimed the singer spent time at a mental hospital. As for her upcoming exit, the magazine said Gomez would remain at the facility “for a few months.”

Selena Gomez’s Revival World Tour kicked off in May and was expected to continue through December. She was scheduled to play her final show of the tour in Mexico.

Prior to the report, a source close to Gomez spoke to People Magazine and attempted to shut down potential rumors of drug or alcohol abuse.

The break is “absolutely not related to alcohol or substance abuse” and was prompted after Selena Gomez “hadn’t felt like herself” for months.

“[Selena Gomez] decided to clear her calendar for the year in order to have this be her priority for future happiness and didn’t want to leave any promoters at bay,” said the source. “She feels relieved that she can now make more sense of why she was feeling the way she was and is optimistic about the future.”

On October 19, another In Touch Weekly report surfaced and alleged that Gomez was “miserable” as she endured Brookhaven’s “intense” treatment program.

“[Selena Gomez] absolutely hates it there,” a source told the magazine. “When the actual effects of detoxing hit her body, she started complaining… Selena keeps saying she feels like hell and wants to leave the facility or go switch to outpatient treatment. Everyone is worried.”

In photos shared of the singer, Selena Gomez looks healthy and happy, so it’s hard to believe she is miserable behind closed doors, especially considering she’s been spending time with her family, including her mother, stepfather, and grandparents after canceling a hectic tour schedule weeks ago. That said, Selena Gomez is going through something that the majority of her fans haven’t experienced themselves and won’t understand.
