Amber Rose Admits She Shouldn’t Have Done ‘Dancing With The Stars,’ But You Won’t Believe Why

Amber Rose got plenty of attention as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, but the SlutWalk founder now admits she probably shouldn’t have signed on to the show. In an interview with E! News, Amber said she prepared herself for her elimination this week, and that in hindsight, she probably should never have agreed to compete on the ABC celebrity ballroom competition.

“Tonight I felt it,” Amber told E! News of her Week 6 elimination. “Tonight I prepared myself, honestly, because if I didn’t prepare myself I would’ve seriously been crying right now… I’m probably going to go to my trailer and cry after this.”

Amber Rose and her partner, returning pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy, got the boot after their Latin Night cha-cha, but despite making it through five weeks of the grueling TV competition, Amber now says she has a few regrets about signing on.

“I’m not really good with a lot of attention,” Rose said. “I probably shouldn’t have done this show… I’m just not good with a lot of eyes on me and a lot of ‘Oh, you’re doing great, everything’s good…'”

It’s hard to believe that Amber Rose thinks she shouldn’t have competed on Dancing with the Stars because she doesn’t like attention, because the former stripper is known for her outgoing personality. But her time on DWTS was definitely controversial, so perhaps it put her in the spotlight in a way that she didn’t want it to.

Amber Rose made headlines when she accused Julianne Hough of body-shaming her. According to People, on her Loveline with Amber Rose podcast, Rose revealed that she felt shamed by the DWTS judge after Julianne said she felt uncomfortable watching Rose shake her booty while dancing a salsa with Maks.

“Last night was like, they did the commentary, and I, it was a point in the dance where I had to lift my leg up and Maks dipped me & [Julianne] said, ‘Oh, I’m uncomfortable,’ and instantly I felt, I did feel body shamed,” Rose told her fans.

Hough later said her comment about Rose’s dance was taken out of context as part of a taped package for the show, and Amber publicly apologized to her for the misunderstanding. Still, the incident definitely caused tension for Rose.

Amber Rose may have also gone into the DWTS competition with a skeptical attitude. Radar Online insiders alleged that Amber believed the competition was fixed and that she felt that DWTS producers were playing favorites, most notably with Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez, who was given the top spot in the Good Morning America cast announcement. Sources said Amber felt like she was “up against the system” and that the show could be rigged.

In addition, Amber Rose definitely butted heads with Maks during rehearsals. In the interview, Amber admitted that on their third day of rehearsals, she complained to Maks that their dance, the foxtrot, was “just so hard,” and she asked him to promise her that future dances wouldn’t be as difficult.

“I immediately just lost my mind and I just lost a couple years of my life,” Chmerkovskiy said of his frustration with Rose. “You know what, I didn’t even answer.”

Despite her feelings that maybe she shouldn’t have done Dancing with the Stars at all, Amber Rose definitely made a friend in Maks. Amber posted a heartfelt message to her pro partner on Instagram, thanking him for getting to know her without judging her.

“I’ll always have [your] back through whatever,” Amber wrote to Maks. “I’ll miss our stressed out rehearsals more than anything, though.”
