Katy Perry and John Mayer allegedly broke up again, but this time it was reportedly at the behest of the songstress. The couple had only been an item again for a few weeks before Perry apparently decided to go her own way. Insider sources made headlines stating their concerns that the singer would get hurt by Mayer and simply was on the rebound from Russell Brand.
When Mayer and Perry split the first time, John did it via email. By the time fans learned of the rather impersonal exit strategy, the couple was already headed towards reconciliation. According to Crushable , Katy Perry allegedly broke up with Mayer because he was commitment-phobic.
A Radar Online source had this to say about the reasons for the most recent breakup:
“John just can’t commit, and he kept luring Katy back with promises that was going to change, but then he didn’t. Katy was pretty crazy about him, so she kept giving him another chance. John liked Katy, so he wanted to keep her in his life, but it just wasn’t up to Katy’s standards. She needs the guy to be on board 100 percent and she was sick of John disappearing for five days at a time, then booty calling her, then straightening up and treating her well, only to go back to his old behavior a few days later.”
The source also maintains that Perry finally hit a breaking point and basically told Mayer to just lose her number. The weekend split did not seem to slow either performer down. Mayer was seen at a Saturday Night Live party in New York City on Saturday, and Perry dazzled the crowd at a Hammer Museum Gala in Los Angeles.
