Margot Robbie To Bring Her Unique Style Of Scent To ‘Saturday Night Live’

Margot Robbie is going to be ringing in the new season of Saturday Night Live, and following her success as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, and as Jane Clayton in The Legend of Tarzan, there can be no doubt that the actress will outshine many previous hosts of the long-running series. As with any project, Robbie is sure to entertain with her own blend of beauty, intelligence, and bravado, but Margot may also be sharing a blend of another kind. As she recently revealed, the Suicide Squad actress has a passion for choosing a specific scent for each role she undertakes, which only leaves one question unanswered.

How Will Margot Robbie Smell On The Set Of Saturday Night Live?

Entertainment Weekly shares the news that Margot Robbie has been invited to host the premiere episode of Saturday Night Live in its impressive Season 42. The announcement comes after the official Saturday Night Live Twitter account asked fans who they would like to see host the premiere episode, though there’s no word on whether or not the choice to have Robbie host the episode is a direct result of that poll.

Margot will be joined by musical guest, The Weeknd, who will be performing in anticipation of the release of their new album, Starboy, which is set for a November 25 release.

Recently, Margot revealed that she picks a unique scent for each role she undertakes, sharing that the practice helps her to really get into the persona of her character. One example Ms. Robbie gives is that of her role as Jane Clayton in The Legend of Tarzan. For that role, Margot always wore a rose oil scent.

“I figured it was a little more earthy — still feminine but in a more grounded way,” explained Ms. Robbie.

Perhaps Saturday Night Live guests will comment on Robbie’s fragrance, when she hosts the episode. If not, fans will have to use their imaginations.

Suicide Squad Star Margot Robbie Rejected Jared Leto’s Idea For Harley Quinn’s Scent

In speaking to New York Magazine’s The Cut, Margot Robbie spoke more about her search for the perfect scent for each one of her film characters, and for Suicide Squad, that quest led her to co-star Jared Leto. Taking the relationship between Joker and Harley Quinn into account, Robbie felt that Harley would choose the fragrance that would most appeal to Joker. It seemed only natural that she should ask Leto what scent (or, perhaps, odor is the more appropriate term) Joker would recommend for his lover.

Jared Leto responded that Harley Quinn should smell like brain, dirty socks, and dead fish.

“I was like, ‘Okay, not really the thing I was after, but, um, that’s great!’ I’m probably not going to rub dead fish on me everyday, so I went for what I thought Harley would like as opposed to what the Joker would like.”

Margot says she felt Harley would go for a “sickly sweet” fragrance and she decided the best way to find the appropriate scent was to visit a drug store in her local strip mall. Ms. Robbie says Harley Quinn would never go for a subtle scent. Instead, the aroma of her perfume would linger and precede her, so everyone would know when she was around.

“[I] bought really cute, tacky perfume that was so sweet it would give you a toothache,” says the Suicide Squad star. “It was very Harley to me. It was cute. It was fun. It was unapologetic.”

Margot Robbie also reveals that the fragrance she chose for Naomi in The Wolf of Wall Street was a big hit with all the male actors. Although she didn’t reveal the name of the fragrance, Robbie does say the men on set were always telling her how nice she smelled.

Margot tells us that her newest film project sent her looking for a rare perfume.

“At the moment, I’m playing a character from the 1920s and I’ve found a gorgeous perfume in a 1920s bottle.”
