Brad Pitt Abuse Problems: Does Substance Abuse Play A Big Part In Brad’s Divorce Troubles?

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce is making a lot of people think about how relationships work. The child abuse charges against Brad are so disturbing, and fans have to wonder how Hollywood’s most famous parents could have been covering up such a terrible secret.

The truth is, it’s no secret at all that drugs, alcohol, and substance abuse don’t mix well with moms, dads, and kids. Brad and Angelina’s six kids are caught in the middle of mess that allegedly includes some form of substance abuse, and may also include child abuse if the allegations of abuse Jolie has made against Pitt are true.

As TMZ points out, there’s no question at all that “Brad Pitt has had a rich history of drinking and smoking weed,” although the superstar actor claims to have completely given up that hard-partying lifestyle once he became a dad. According to the on-the-spot celeb gossip site, Angelina filed for divorce because Brad is “smoking weed, drinking alcohol and that combined with an anger problem poses a risk to their kids.” The Inquirer reported that Pitt “also has anger issues that are said to be fueled by weed and alcohol.”

You read that right. It wasn’t just Jolie being a prude and judging Brad because he likes a drink or a toke now and then. The real problem for Angie was that whenever Brad had too much alcohol, he had an anger problem, and the kids were the ones paying the price. Maybe Angelina’s super-parent status is deserved. She’s certainly come out swinging to protect her kids from Brad’s abuse.

So what about that “rich history” of substance abuse in Pitt’s life? There’s a clip from way back in 2009 that shows Brad on Bill Maher’s show “rhapsodizing about rolling the perfect joint.” He said that he was done with the weed and alcohol overuse, but Angelina obviously doesn’t agree since she’s spoken out publicly now about Brad’s abuse of both alcohol and weed. Quentin Tarantino may have also blown Brad’s cover when he talked to Jimmy Kimmel in the same year about how he and Brad were hanging out at “Brad’s vineyard and drank a half dozen bottles of vino and smoked it up.” Tarantino didn’t make any claims that Pitt had given up weed or alcohol yet.

Page Six reported that a Jolie-Pitt insider identified substance abuse as the main problem behind the other troubles leading to Angelina and Brad’s divorce. Brad wasn’t just cheating on Angelina, he was also putting his kids in a tough spot by “partying like a single guy on a mission” instead of taking time to cool off and deal with his anger.

“The atmosphere [off-set] was full of hard drugs and Russian hookers, and Angie was told Brad got caught up in it. He’s in the throes of some insane midlife crisis, and Angie is fed up.”

Bustle took a close look at Brad’s history of substance abuse, and wrote that Pitt has always been very open “about his past use of marijuana and his use of alcohol.” According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), substance abuse is often a “risk factor” for child abuse. Being open about his substance abuse doesn’t mean that Brad would be free of the risks that go with it. If Angelina is to be believed, Brad’s substance abuse problems did get in the way of his parenting abilities.

The story of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie isn’t over yet. In the divorce of such a high-powered and popular Hollywood couple, there is going to be a lot of fallout. Accusations will fly, and fans will take sides. Let’s just hope that Brad and Angelina keep the kids out of it.
