Bring your favorite Xbox One title with you in whatever platform you choose with Xbox One Play Anywhere, now live globally.
You love playing on the Xbox One but, of course, the Xbox One continues to be a home console, not a portable. So in times when you just have to leave your beloved couch, you wouldn’t be able to touch the game you’re currently working on until you get home.
But times are changing. What if you never have to leave your game behind? What if you can continue playing your Xbox One game wherever you are, but this time, via another Xbox One or through a Microsoft PC or laptop? Well, that time has come.
Xbox One continues to be on the forefront of gaming options, with Xbox One backward compatibility only the start of the revolution. Microsoft is all about giving the gamers a variety of options and possibilities with the steady stream of new features they release month after month. This month, the Xbox Play Anywhere comes into reality, which lets gamers play Xbox One titles on the Xbox One or on Microsoft PC interchangeably. No need for additional purchases whatsoever.
So how exactly does Xbox Play Anywhere work? Segment Nextgoes into detail and it’s simple. You play your Xbox One title on the Xbox One today, and then play it on the PC later, and then back on the Xbox One whenever you feel like it! All you need to do is purchase a Xbox Play Anywhere-compatible game once on any platform, and then play the game on any platform through your Xbox Live/Microsoft account.
While it’s as easy as pie to Play Anywhere, there are some important information Xbox Wirepublished that you will have to keep in mind if you want to take advantage of Xbox Play Anywhere.
Take note that you will have to install the Windows 10 Anniversary Edition on your PC and on your Xbox One to be able to take advantage of the Xbox Play Anywhere feature. Also, you will need to be using only one email address and account to sign in to your Microsoft and Xbox Live. As long as you’re using one same account, you can purchase the title on either platforms and then play on both.
Xbox Play Anywhere only applies to digital games, which means that you will have to download the game rather than play it natively via disc to be able to Play Anywhere. You can download an Xbox Play Anywhere-compatible game from the following portals:
- Your Xbox One console
- The Xbox App (Windows 10, iOS, Android)
- The Windows Store
- Digital Game Codes from participating retailers
It is also nice to note that all downloadable contents (DLCs), Gamerscore, and Achievements are all saved via Xbox Live so you’ll have access to all of these on whatever platform you choose to play. Literally, you pick up where you left off on your game on say another Xbox One unit at a friend’s house or on a Windows 10 PC on your apartment.
Xbox Play Anywhere officially kicked off earlier this week with ReCore, the first Xbox Play Anywhere game for Xbox One and Microsoft PC, Xbox Wire previously reported. But with Xbox Play Anywhere already live, the possibilities are limitless.
