‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7: Negan More Dangerous Than ‘TWD’ Comic Version, Jeffrey Dean Morgan Teases [Spoilers]

The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere will finally show viewers who Negan killed. While many fans are still trying to figure out who died on TWD, others are wondering if Negan will be weakened for television. Will it be the Negan that comic book readers know or a watered down version? Recently, Jeffrey Dean Morgan answered this question.

TWD spoilers are ahead. If you do not want any hints on what to expect when the zombie apocalypse show returns, then stop reading.

Negan is a unique character with a distinctive personality. He cannot be summed up in one word and it is nearly impossible to accurately describe him in words. Comic book readers know who Negan is and what to expect when The Walking Dead returns to AMC with Season 7. However, not everyone is excited about it. In fact, some are worried that the network will only air a weakened version of the character.

In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, Jeffrey Dean Morgan was asked to compare the television and comic book versions of Negan. Will there be any drastic differences? Even though his scene in the season finale was only 12 minutes, many viewers already have an opinion. Is the “new Negan” being judged too early?

“There is this charm and devil-may-care attitude, but you’re going to do it my way. And he does it with a smile. But when that violence comes, there is no doubting what this guy is going to do and how he’s going to do it.”

The Walking Dead actor added that he hopes it makes the television version of Negan scarier. Morgan also noted that fans will truly see what Negan is capable of doing after the Season 7 premiere. One specific statement that Morgan mentioned is that Negan will be smiling while he is taking off someone’s head with Lucille.

As seen in the latest promo clip for Season 7, Negan is at Alexandria’s gate at night. He uses his barbed wire baseball bat to loudly announce his arrival. TWD fans also saw the Saviors getting down on their knees and lowering their head as Negan walked by.

As for what else viewers can expect in The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere, it won’t just be about who Negan kills. Morgan explained that his character will continue his speech. Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the others will learn the rules and consequences. However, viewers will also get a glimpse into how Negan’s mind works. As the season progresses, Negan’s backstory and what he has done since the zombie apocalypse began will be revealed. How he came to his current position will also be explained and questions will be answered by the midseason premiere.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, expect Ezekiel, Shiva, and the Kingdom to be part of Season 7. There will also be other communities, leaders, and survivors introduced. The Spoiling Dead Fans teased some junkyard scenes as well as filming taking place at Jekyll Island. Some fans are wondering if Alpha and the Whisperers will debut this season. However, others think it is too early for the group to be introduced.

According to Variety, executive producer Gale Anne Hurd talked about what got her interested in The Walking Dead. It wasn’t the zombie threat but what could go on with the surviving human beings, such as Negan.

“What attracted me to [Robert Kirkman’s] comic-book series is that it is a story about characters on a journey into this new world, and constantly trying to figure out not only how to survive but what’s important to them, and some characters give up, some characters commit suicide, and they are constantly evolving, they are constantly meeting new characters; they have to determine friend or foe, and very quickly we realize that it is not the zombies you have to be afraid of, it’s the other humans.”

The Walking Dead Season 7 premieres October 23 on AMC.
