According to repeated reports and endless rumors, Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo have been low-key dating for months now. Now, on the eve of Song Joong Ki’s upcoming 31st birthday, it sounds like things are getting serious between the “Descendants of the Sun” co-stars.

Reportedly, Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are about to go from dating behind the scenes to being publicly engaged for all the world to see. The highly anticipated proposal is expected to go down on September 9, which is Song Joong Ki’s 31st birthday. And possibly the first day of the rest of his life, reports Game N Guide.

According to multiple sources, Song Joong Ki has privately admitted that he thinks it’s time for him to give up his bachelorhood and independence. Indeed, the Internet is swirling with talk that Song Joong Ki is ready to settle down, and that he’s ready to do it with Song Hye Kyo. Soon.

For quite some time now, it’s been reported all over the place that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are a couple. Albeit a secret couple, one very beloved by their fans and followers. By most accounts, and according to innumerable fan theories, the adorable “Descendants of the Sun” duo have been hiding their love affair, keeping their joint adoration secret, in order to keep their young, fragile and serious relationship from being trampled by a curious public.

Many are calling the anticipated Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo engagement a “surprise,” but to many fans of the pair, it will be anything but. It will be a long-awaited conclusion to a beautiful (but largely speculative) relationship.

Despite the almost rabid slavering of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo fans, however, the couple (or at least rumored couple) is still keeping their “relationship” under wraps. According to several reports, the high-profile actors (and low-key supposed couple) has been working directly with at least one “Descendants of the Sun” Season 2 writer to work out the details of the sequel season’s plot points.

Not a single one of which likely focuses on the rumored couple’s (maybe) up and coming engagement. Much to the chagrin of fans and the Internet alike.

While “maybe couple” Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo have yet to speak out about their shared love life and relationship, let alone a possible upcoming birthday engagement, most fans think that a formal uniting of the pair in holy matrimony is on the very near horizon. With Song Joong Ki’s highly anticipated 31st birthday just under a week away, fans of the adorable co-stars don’t have long to wait to find out whether or not Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo will be tying the knot.

That is, unless Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo decide to keep their engagement as secretive as their current relationship.
