Dallas Cowboys Vs. New York Giants: 5 Bold Predictions For NFL Week 1
The Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants form one of the best rivalries in NFL history and will be opening the 2016 NFL season against each other on Sunday afternoon. It is one of the most anticipated games of the opening week, although Tony Romo’s absence take some of the excitement away.
Jerry Jones is hoping that rookie quarterback Dak Prescott can lead the Cowboys in Romo’s absence. Prescott had a huge preseason, and many believe that he will break out as a starting caliber quarterback immediately. Going up against a weak Giants’ defense is a good way for Prescott to start his career.
New York, on the other hand, is a team full of question marks. Eli Manning and the offense should be fairly dangerous, although there are some concerns about potential inconsistency. Their defense, however, is the biggest question mark that could come back to haunt them.
That being said, only time will tell how these two teams will fare in the 2016 season. Dallas strongly believes that they can win the NFC East division if Romo recovers quickly. New York is on the outside looking in at this point in time but shouldn’t be counted out of the division race.

Dak Prescott Will Put Up Superstar Numbers in First Start
After being named the Cowboys’ starting quarterback, Dak Prescott has a lot of pressure on his shoulders. He put up huge numbers in preseason action, but the regular season is a completely different beast. Even with the added pressure, Prescott will put up superstar numbers and put his team in a great position to come out with a win over their division rivals.
Odell Beckham Jr. Will Rack Up at Least 125 Yards, Two Touchdowns
There is no denying the fact that the Cowboys have a weak secondary. Odell Beckham Jr. will take full advantage of the Cowboys’ porous defense. He will rack up at least 125 receiving yards and will catch at least two touchdown passes from Eli Manning as well.
Ezekiel Elliott Will Break Out with 100-Plus Yards, Two Touchdowns
While Dak Prescott has the spotlight shining down on him, another Cowboys’ rookie will be asked to step up as well. Ezekiel Elliott was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and will show why in his first career regular season game. He will rush for at least 100 yards and two touchdowns to help lead his team against the Giants.
Eli Manning Will Throw at Least Three Interceptions
All of the predictions up to this point have been positive, but Giants fans won’t want to see this one. Eli Manning has become a turnover machine in recent years, although he has limited his interception number to 14 in each of the last two seasons. That being said, Manning will throw at least three interceptions in Week 1 action.
Dallas Will Pull Out a Tough Victory to Open the Season
Even without Romo, the Cowboys will find a way to get a win against the Giants. Prescott and Elliott will lead the offense and the defense will figure out ways to make plays. Dallas is the better all-around team and that will show this week in a tough win to open the season.
Expect to see this game come down to the fourth quarter. Dallas is definitely the better team, but they aren’t going to be winning this game in blowout fashion.
