‘Married At First Sight’ Season 4 Couple Derek And Heather First Couple To File For Divorce?

Married At First Sight Season 4 couple Derek Schwartz and Heather Seidel could be making MAFS history as the first couple to get a divorce even before the six-week social experiment was over.

In the last episode of Married At First Sight Season 4, “For Better or Worse,” Derek said that he wanted to give their marriage another try. The 35-year-old account executive told the cameras that he wanted to finish the six-week social experiment before passing judgment. If they would be able to put the past behind them, Derek believed that there could still be a chance for him and Heather.

“I’ve made this commitment. I made vows and I plan to stick to them. I’m very serious. I want to work towards a happy resolution, meaning putting our problems behind us and working towards this marriage.”

Heather, on the other hand, said that she is trying her best to be open minded, adding that she is not taking this decision lightly. While she sees Derek as a nice person, the flight attended said that she is just not seeing the qualities she is looking for in a partner. She also did not appreciate the way Derek handled himself during their argument.

“The way that he fights, the name calling. Those are the things that I have an issue with. I try to remain calm. I tried to get up and be positive. I’d like to think that I’ve grown to a point in my life. I’m 32 years old. I’m not dealing with this type of s**t anymore,” she told Pastor Cal Roberson.

In the end, Derek told Heather and Pastor Cal that he still wanted to stay married, at least for the duration of the social experiment.

“I still choose to focus on the good moments that we had and I believe that Heather and I, if we can get over some of the differences, and focus on our similarities, we can have an opportunity to learn and grow together,” he said.

Heather’s decision will be revealed in the next Married At First Sight Season 4 episode.

In an interview with The Knot, Derek Schwartz admitted that watching his relationship with Heather Seidel play out on television gave him an entirely different perspective. While they shared a few laughs during their honeymoon, Derek realized that Heather has been indifferent towards their marriage since the beginning.

“The most interesting thing I have noticed when watching is how disinterested Heather seems early on. In those early days, I kept reassuring myself that things were going well, but watching the episodes definitely gives me a different perspective.”

Heather has been “turned off” at Derek for smoking during their honeymoon. The habit is such a huge deal breaker that she said she would not go on a second date with another guy if he was smoking.

“I’m upset. I feel like there are some things that are very different about us. The amount of smoking, that’s a huge concern. It’s been everyday,” she told the cameras.

Derek felt thatHeather’s accusations came out of nowhere. He pointed out that if Heather would have talked to him about it, the problem would not have gone out of hand. Derek added that when Heather called him out, he stopped smoking immediately.

“As soon as we had the discussion, despite the way it happened, I stopped smoking for the rest of our honeymoon to show Heather how committed I was and how important our marriage is. I never even gave it a second thought,” he said.

In spite their marriage possibly not working out, Derek still believed in the Married At First Sight experiment.

“I would not change the process at all. I know it works, I have seen it work on more than one occasion. I believe that if we follow the steps and utilize the tools we have to make our marriage successful that it will work out in the end,” Derek explained.
