‘Stranger Things 2’ Latest Casting News: Details On Three Of The Four New Characters Announced

When the official news dropped that Netflix had renewed Stranger Things for Season 2, fans were excited. Now they are just eager to find out as much as they can about the new season, especially about those four new characters the Duffer brothers revealed.

We now have news on three of those characters thanks to TVLine. According to their intel on Stranger Things 2, the first character could correlate with the title of the first chapter in Season 2, an episode called “MadMax.”

“Max, is a ‘tough and confident’ 12-14 year-old female whose ‘appearance, behavior and pursuits seem more typical of boys than of girls in this era.'”

Max will also shy away from the typical mode of transport available to the kids of Hawkins, Indiana. Her preferred mode of transport will be a skateboard rather than a bike.

While little else is known about this character, there is a couple of assumptions that could be made about her. Based on the assumption that the first episode (“MadMax”) will introduce this new character, we also know that at least the first scene of Episode 1 of Stranger Things 2 will take place outside of Hawkins, according to an interview the Duffer brothers did with Entertainment Weekly. So could Max be from out of town? If this episode is about introducing her, then perhaps she is. Another assumption could also be made — is Max Australian? After all, Mad Max is a famous ’80s Australian movie franchise.

Or, alternatively, is it just an episode title based on the character description? Because, let’s face it, a girl in the ’80s that is more tomboy in behavior is also more likely to be mad at gender equality in that decade as well. Only by tuning into Season 2 of Stranger Things will reveal all about the new character of Max.

The next character will be Max’s “‘very muscular and hyper-confident’ Camaro-driving older brother Billy.” This character sounds like another version of Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) or his friend, Tommy (Chester Rushing). So it looks like more cool kids could be introduced to Stranger Things 2.

It will be interesting to see how these siblings will tie into the story in Season 2 of Stranger Things. Could they perhaps be related to the Byers? Or maybe relatives of one of the other characters in Stranger Things. Considering the possibility of them being from out of town, maybe they were on vacation when Season 1 of Stranger Things played out?

The final character reveal for Season 2 of Stranger Things, according to TVLine, is that of Roman, a “thirty-something gender-neutral role” who has “suffered a great loss at an early age and has been seeking revenge ever since.” To be honest, if ever there was a character who suited the role of “super villain” or “mad scientist,” this would be it. As yet, though, it is unclear how Roman will play into the Season 2 storyline of Stranger Things, however, the final chapter of Season 2 of Stranger Things, entitled “The Lost Brother,” could be an indicator to this character’s “great loss.”

While there is all this news on the newest characters involved in Stranger Things, the Duffer brothers have maintained their silence on the fate of Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown. Fans will have to tune into Season 2 to find out if those Eggos Hopper (David Harbour) placed in the forest were for Eleven or not.
