‘American Horror Story’ Season 6 Spoilers: Colonial Theme? New Set Photos, Posters, And Trailer [Video]

Warning: This article may contain American Horror Story Season 6 spoilers.

Major American Horror Story Season 6 spoilers are finally starting to pop up now that the season premiere is less than three weeks away.

As the Inquisitr previously noted, FX and executive producer Ryan Murphy have kept the theme of the upcoming season under wraps, choosing to release a slew of creepy teasers, with only one being genuine. However, Rotten Tomatoes may have accidentally revealed the new season’s title last weekend when it posted American Horror Story: The Mist on its site. FX did not confirm the name, and Rotten Tomatoes soon replaced The Mist with the very generic Season 6. Whether that means it was a mistake or a genuine spoiler FX demanded be taken down remains to be seen.

Now, Hello Giggles reports new AHS posters pointing to a colonial theme are turning up in the wild. A subway poster tweeted by a fan shows a woman in colonial garb holding a rosary made of teeth.

And actress Sarah Paulson also got in on the AHS Season 6 spoilers game by tweeting a photo of a bus poster featuring a similar image.

The posters support chilling new Season 6 set photos reported by Yahoo Style. In one set of photos, reportedly snapped on the AHS set in Santa Clarita, California, a crowd of torch-carrying colonials surrounds a decrepit church or house.

In another batch of pics, primitive wooden structures are shown.

One of the first potential American Horror Story Season 6 spoilers to emerge was that the theme would involve the Lost Colony of Roanoke. For those who aren’t history buffs, the Roanoke Colony was the first English settlement in the New World, settled on an island off the coast of present-day North Carolina in 1585. Life in the colony was harsh, and the inhabitants sailed back to England with Sir Francis Drake the next year. However, a second group of colonists, led by John White, decided to try again in 1587. White soon returned to England for more supplies, but his return was delayed due to a war with Spain. When he and his men finally set foot on the island again in August, 1590, it was mysteriously deserted. The only clue was the word “CROATOAN” carved on wooden fence erected around the village. Among the missing was White’s granddaughter, Virginia Dare, the first British child born in America.

That creepy historical mystery seems to match the purported Season 6 set photos TMZ posted in late July. The pics show a colonial-era settlement and the word “CROATOAN” scratched onto a tree. An on-set spy also reported seeing actors in Pilgrim-like clothing.

All of those potential American Horror Story Season 6 spoilers also fit this chilling FX teaser.

The Mist could also fit a Roanoke colony theme since the title is vague enough to match up with just about anything. But don’t forget Ryan Murphy hinted there might be two AHS themes this year, as the Inquisitr already noted.

“Next year, we might do a fall American Horror Story and a spring. We have to decide.”

Meanwhile, FX just released another AHS Season 6 teaser for fans to speculate over. This one shows beetles crawling along the spine and into the neck of some unfortunate soul, the bugs’ spindly legs making crunchy sounds as a woman hums a disconcerting melody.

Whatever the ultimate Season 6 theme, Movie Pilot reports the following actors have confirmed their involvement: Evan Peters, Denis O’Hare, Matt Bomer, Leslie Jordan, Cheyenne Jackson, Lady Gaga, Sarah Paulson, and Angela Bassett.

What do you think of the latest American Horror Story Season 6 spoilers? Do you like the rumored Roanoke colony theme, or are you hoping for a different tale of terror?

American Horror Story Season 6 premieres Wednesday, September 14, at 10 p.m. on FX.
