As previously reported by The Inquisitr, executive producer Julie Plec teased that there will be a high body count in the upcoming season of TVD. Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) are under control of the creature inside the vault. Until Comic-Con 2016, it was assumed that Damon and Enzo were no longer themselves. Since then, fans have discovered that they are still inside their bodies somewhere fighting to get free.

At the comic book convention, Somerhalder hinted that fans would see a lot of push and pull between Damon, Enzo, and the mystery monster in The Vampire Diaries. Season 8 spoilers from Melty indicate that there is a lot more to the villain than previously thought. The publication referenced an interview the cast and crew had with Entertainment Weekly. Matt Davis gave some information on a tactic the creature uses on its intended victims.

“What I like about this villain in particular is that everyone has a dark secret and there’s something about this villain that just knows what it is. No matter how much you try to hide it, it will pull it out of you. So it can see the evil that you try to hide within yourself and that’s what I like about it.”

However, that isn’t all that was revealed about the villain in The Vampire Diaries Season 8. Julie Plec gave a teaser in the interview with EW. The executive producer teased that there will be a lot of deaths. She also explained that the mystery monster will be responsible for Damon and Enzo performing “gruesome executions.” Well, that doesn’t sound too good for the dozens of missing people along the West coast. Plec added a little bit more information about the new big bad in the interview.

“Enzo and Damon are doing some really bad things in the name of somebody who is controlling them, and so the goal is to rescue them from that situation without everybody else getting sucked into it as well.”

Many fans assumed that magic will be used to help save Damon and Enzo in The Vampire Diaries. However, Plec said in an interview with TV Line that the goal is not to use spells, at least in the beginning. While it is known that Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) no longer has her powers, it was speculated that Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), Caroline Forbes (Candice King), Bonnie, and Alaric would find another witch. It turns out that is not the case. The executive producer said they want to use as little magic as possible for as long as they can in Season 8. This explains why Stefan, Caroline, Alaric, and Bonnie are using news reports and maps to track down Damon and Enzo in the Season 7 finale.

What do you think is going to happen with Damon and Enzo on TVD? Can the missing vampires be saved or will it be too late by the time they are found? Will anyone else get sucked into the villain’s claws due to some dark secrets that cannot be hidden from the mystery monster? Fans won’t have that much longer to wait before finding out. The Vampire Diaries Season 8 premieres October 21 on The CW network.
