‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Casting Call For A Hunk Named ‘Dean’ Sparks Rumors That Justin Hartley Is Leaving ‘Y&R’

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that the daytime drama could be in the hunt for the new Adam Newman. Justin Hartley’s role on the NBC prime-time drama, This Is Us has left the Young and the Restless fans panicked that the handsome hunk could be leaving the soap opera.

Justin Hartley stated that he hoped that he could do both shows, but wasn’t sure how it would work out in the long run. He explained that This Is Us was “special to him” and he was making the show a priority. Can Justin manage the demands of two leading roles appearing on different networks?

Most actors, if given the chance, will choose a prime-time role over a daytime soap opera. Hartley’s departure from the Young and the Restless has been buzzing for months and has been leaked to be as soon as late August. Until recently, CBS has denied that Justin could be leaving the show, but after Hartley revealed he wasn’t sure if he “could do” both shows, they’ve had no other choice but to at least acknowledge that he could be leaving the soap opera, Celeb Dirty Laundry reports.

CBS issued a casting call this week for a man named “Dean,” and was described as a 30-something caucasian man who came from a wealthy background, but tried to go against the grain and fight the corruption of his influential family. The Young and the Restless spoilers hint that the description of “Dean” sounds as if it may be the recast for Adam Newman.

Soaps In Depth reports that “Dean” has witnessed terrible consequences from greed, and he’s tried his best to distance himself from it. It suggested that he’s tried to live his life away from his wealthy family, only to be “sucked in” by his influential family. It is a dead ringer for Adam Newman. The Young and the Restless has painted Adam with a desire to break clean from the Newman family, and live a quiet life with Chelsea and Connor. Even if Justin Hartley decides that he needs to pursue his prime-time role, CBS will want to keep the connection between Adam and Chelsea intact; “Chadam” has a huge fanbase.

The Young and the Restless fans have embraced Justin’s portrayal of Adam after fan-favorite Michael Muhney was fired several years ago. Many viewers thought they could never accept another actor in the role of Adam, but quickly embraced Hartley in the role. It’s apparent that the Young and the Restless needs to be careful with the actor they select as Justin’s alleged recast. If they select the wrong actor, it could turn off the fans and the CBS soap opera could lose many viewers. Recasting a popular character is difficult, even when they find the “perfect” actor for the role.

Currently, Adam is in jail and even though he’s innocent of the murder charges (thanks to Sage Newman’s real diary pages), he assaulted a guard which will keep him in prison for quite some time. It will give the Young and the Restless some time to figure out if they want to recast the role of Adam, or just keep him in jail until Justin has time for the soap opera.

The Young and the Restless issued a statement that “they do not comment on actor’s contracts,” and would not confirm nor deny the rumors that Justin Hartley was planning to exit the role of Adam.

The casting call states that the contract role of “Dean” will begin filming at the end of August, with the airdate of the first of October, She Knows Soaps reports. The Young and the Restless fans, do you think that “Dean” could be a casting call for Adam Newman? Do you think Justin Hartley is planning to leave the CBS soap opera?
