WWE News: Goldberg Responds To Brock Lesnar Calling Him Out

The WWE posted a video yesterday on Brock Lesnar’s Twitter account with Lesnar tagging Bill Goldberg in the message, saying that Goldberg was next. The WWE then pulled the video, making some wonder what it all meant. However, they put it back online later that night after WWE Monday Night Raw ended.

The video has Paul Heyman calling cover boy Goldberg a supporting player and then Brock Lesnar says, “Hey, Bill. You’re next.”

This was clearly an advertisement for the upcoming WWE 2K17 video game and likely was a message that fans can have Lesnar and Goldberg fight in the new video game. Regardless, Goldberg headed to Twitter and responded to the video by telling Lesnar to “keep dreaming kid” and then wishing Brock luck.

The biggest thing about this video is that Goldberg will be in Brooklyn this weekend doing promotional work for 2K Sports as they prepare to release WWE 2K17. SummerSlam will also be in Brooklyn this weekend for the WWE, and Brock Lesnar will be there to fight Randy Orton. With Goldberg in the WWE 2K17 video game and Lesnar calling him out, could Goldberg be returning to the WWE to face off with Brock?

Goldberg has said that he would love to wrestle at least one more time. His son was born after he retired from the WWE, and the Inquisitr previously reported that Goldberg said he wants his son to see him wrestle at least once before he can’t go anymore.

“I know this is a very big step for me in that I’ve been away [from WWE] for a long period of time and I never really ever saw myself being involved with them again, but along came my wonderful son and [it] opened up the possibility of doing something with the WWE again and I’m grateful to be in this situation.”

Forbes reported that while the Brock Lesnar video was just promotion for the WWE 2K17 video game, the company is actually discussing the possibility of Goldberg appearing at SummerSlam and getting involved in some way during the Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton match. If this happens, it could set up a rematch between the two at WrestleMania next year.

The last time that Goldberg and Brock Lesnar fought, it was at WrestleMania as well. The match is infamous because Goldberg announced he was retiring from the WWE and Lesnar was leaving to try out for the NFL and the Minnesota Vikings. The fans booed both men and only cheered when special referee Stone Cold Steve Austin laid them both out at the end of the match. Brock was especially taken out of his game thanks to the booing.

Since that time, Goldberg has only made a handful of appearances at smaller wrestling shows while Brock Lesnar went on to become the UFC champion and returned as the biggest star in the WWE. A match between Brock and Goldberg now could be huge and much more accepted by fans than their last encounter.

However, there are a lot of things riding on this happening. Goldberg seemed dismissive in his tweets after the Lesnar WWE 2K17 video was released. Then again, if something has been worked out between Goldberg and the WWE, they could be playing it off to make his appearance at SummerSlam against Brock even more exciting. On the other hand, it could never happen.
