‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7: Why Daryl Dixon Fans Shouldn’t Freak Out From The New ‘TWD’ Clip Featuring Dwight [Spoilers]

The Walking Dead Season 7 preview special aired on AMC last night. Along with cast interviews, TWD fans were given a look at new footage for the upcoming season. It featured Dwight (Austin Amelio) from the Saviors. Based on what he was wearing, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) fans are freaking out. However, the clip does not necessarily hint that the fan favorite character is going to die.

There are spoilers for The Walking Dead Season 7 ahead. Do not continue reading if you do not want to know what could happen when the show returns.

The new clip, which can be viewed below, shows Dwight riding Daryl Dixon‘s motorcycle. He is trying to wade through walkers that are strewn across the highway. None of them seem capable of walking, but are able to reach with their arms. As Dwight fends one off, his back turns toward the camera. It is then that TWD fans notice he not only has Daryl’s bike, but his angel wing vest, too. Some believe that this means Daryl Dixon is going to die on The Walking Dead. However, don’t jump to conclusions just yet.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, there is a rumor that Daryl gets kidnapped by Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and the Saviors. If this turns out to be accurate, then that is one reason why Dwight may have Dixon’s motorcycle and vest. If Norman Reedus’ character is being held hostage, they are going to take anything of his that they want.

Another reason that Dwight could have Daryl’s belongings is that the Saviors go into survivor communities and take whatever they want. It is what they do and this was explained by Jesus (Tom Payne) and the Hilltop Colony residents. People must either give the Saviors what they want or suffer the consequences. As viewers recall, the punishment for not doing so is severe. At the Hilltop Colony, the Saviors beat a teenage boy to death in order to make their point.

With at least one character dying by Negan and Lucille on The Walking Dead, if Dwight wants Daryl’s bike and vest, he is probably going to get it. Especially if another Alexandrian is threatened, perhaps even someone that Dixon cares about.

E! Online brought up a good point about this particular TWD footage. Even though previews and sneak peeks can provide clues, there is no way they would make it obvious who is going to die on The Walking Dead. They have spent way too much money, time, and resources trying to keep major plot points, including deaths, a secret so far. It seems unlikely that they would reveal such a huge spoiler. This was their way of riling up fans and getting them ready for Season 7. The more people talk about a TV show, the more anticipation it builds, even if fans are freaking out. That turns into ratings and AMC knows it.

One thing about Negan and the Saviors is that they often use walkers as barricades. Zombies are also used to create a trap for the Saviors’ victims. However, looking at Dwight’s face, he seems surprised by the walkers across the highway. He seems unsure and nervous. It appears that he is surprised by the blockade and is going through it cautiously. This seems to suggest that Dwight may be in trouble with Negan once again. Another theory is that Rick and the others may be using the Saviors’ tactics against them.

There is a theory that Dwight may turn against Negan in The Walking Dead. This is exactly what he does in Robert Kirkman’s comic books. He feels guilty over his actions and ends up feeding information about the Saviors and their home base, the Sanctuary, during the war with Negan. Most wouldn’t trust Dwight, especially after shooting Daryl, stealing his stuff once before, and killing Denise (Merritt Wever). However, in the TWD comic books, his information to Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) helps the Alexandrians. In a way, he redeemed himself and became one of the good guys.

What do you think? Was Dwight wearing Daryl Dixon’s vest and riding his motorcycle really a clue of his death? Or is Norman Reedus’ character going to be just fine when The Walking Dead returns to AMC with Season 7?
