'Dancing With The Stars' Season 23 Cast: Famous Soap Star Hints At Signing On As Contestant

Every day, new rumors ignite about which celebrities will be on the official Dancing with the Stars Season 23 cast list. A famous soap opera star might be added to the list of possibilities!

ABC's Good Morning America won't reveal its cast lineup until Tuesday, August 30, but more names keep coming down the pike as to which big stars might hit the dance floor.

Which soap star is now being added to the list of potential candidates? Emmas Samms, the actress who famously played Holly Scorpio on General Hospital. She posted a message on her Twitter account that seemed like no big deal until Dancing with the Stars co-host, Tom Bergeron, acknowledged it.

A tweet by Samms on August 3 read, "I have some good news but I can't tell you yet which is annoying. Though probably not as annoying as this tweet. Sorry."

Samms' tweet could have meant anything except for the fact that Bergeron fueled speculation when he responded to the actress' message.

The longtime DWTS host wrote, "@EmmaSamms1 You're such a tease!"

Does this mean Emma Samms, once a huge star on General Hospital, will appear on Season 23 as a contestant?

She left General Hospital to fulfill that role and appear on Dynasty's spin-off series, The Colbys. She also makes comeback appearances on General Hospital.

The 56-year-old actress lives in England and told Somerset Live in June that she's entering the realm of writing and directing of films. She just completed a short film that she wrote and directed, which is beginning to break into festivals.

Samms also dabbles in antique dealing and is passionate about her philanthropic work. She's the co-founder and spokesperson for Starlight Children's Foundation, known as the only children's charity that delivers services into every children's ward in hospitals and hospices throughout the country, and granting wishes to underprivileged children.

Meanwhile, Carter Matt writes that ABC might well be interested in some Olympic athletes. Simone Biles is a big name being thrown around right now after becoming the world's top gymnast. It's believed that her skills on the dance floor would be just as impressive.

Katie Ledecky is another Olympian that ABC might be looking at. She has a high medal count and is definitely a crowd favorite.

Michael Phelps has been asked by producers in years past to be a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. He hasn't agreed to put on a pair of dance shoes yet, but will he surprise everyone and go for it in Season 23?

Athletes in this category are doing great for Team U.S.A. Will DWTS want this Olympic swimmer on its cast list for the fall season? If Phelps passes once more, maybe Manuel will fit the bill.

Ryan Murphy could be yet another option if producers ask this swimmer to be part of the Season 23 cast. The swimmer has won two gold medals but doesn't have the magnitude of fame that Phelps and Manuel have achieved.

It was just recently revealed by a source that ABC is watching this year's Olympics closely to see which ones have the most appeal. Several Olympians have showcased their stellar dance skills on Dancing with the Stars. Which ones will make the fall roster for the show remains a mystery. Chances are there's a lot of spaces yet to fill before the final announcement on Good Morning America at the end of the month.

If Emma Samms joins the cast of DWTS, fans who remember her earlier days from General Hospital and Dynasty will be pleased to see her on the show. She has some dance experience after studying at the Royal Ballet School until she suffered an injury.

Dancing with the Stars Season 23 premieres on Monday, September 12 at 8 p.m., ET/PT on ABC.
