‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7: Were The Whisperers In The Trailer? Heath And Tara May Meet New ‘TWD’ Group [Spoilers]

The Walking Dead Season 7 trailer revealed a few things, mainly Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and the Alexandrians. There was also a shot of Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Shiva. However, another group may have been introduced in the video clip, and TWD fans might have missed it. Is it the new group, the Whisperers, from Robert Kirkman’s comic books?

There are spoilers for The Walking Dead Season 7 ahead. If you do not want to know what will happen on the zombie apocalypse TV show, then stop reading.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, there will be several new groups and communities of survivors in the upcoming season. Viewers already know Negan and the Saviors. Last season, TWD fans also became acquainted with the Hilltop Colony. It is already known that Ezekiel, Shiva, and the Kingdom will be introduced. What other groups will be shown in Season 7 of The Walking Dead?

According to MoviePilot, the Whisperers may have been in the Season 7 trailer. If the report is correct, then Heath (Corey Hawkins) and Tara (Alanna Masterson) encounter the creepy group. Those that have read The Walking Dead comic books know who they are. For those that have only seen the television show, who are the Whisperers?

In The Walking Dead, the Whisperers are a large group of survivors who take flesh and dry it out so it is like leather. The members take the skin and wear it on their faces, like masks. They live among the dead and do not harm them. However, they are a dangerous group of people. In Robert Kirkman’s comic books, the Whisperers do not appear until after the war with Negan and the Saviors is over with.

In The Walking Dead Season 7 trailer, there was a scene with Heath and Tara. The two TWD characters watch as walkers rise out of the sand. MoviePilot noted that there were some unusual characteristics about these walkers. First, the undead do not all rise at once. Looking back at the trailer, it does seem as if the group is synchronized, which is something the dead are not capable of. Second, the writer observed the skin and eyes of the walkers in the sand. The facial flesh looks dried up, and the eyes are darker than other zombies. In the comic books, the Whisperers made their eyes black so there was a way to tell them apart from the walking corpses.

There is a big storyline with the Whisperers in The Walking Dead. In fact, fans have been wondering if and when the group would show up in the TV show for the past two seasons. The storyline will probably be changed up a bit, just like with many other things in TWD. Even though the group appears much later in the comic books, there is no rule that they can’t appear earlier on the TV show. Especially since Morgan (Lennie James) previously talked to Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) about individuals “wearing dead people’s faces.”

In the comic books, one of the Whisperers is captured and brought back to the Hilltop Colony. She turns out to be a 16-year-old girl named Lydia who tells Jesus everything. TV Line reported that two new characters will be joining Season 7. One of them happens to be a teenage girl named Jennie. The character is described as being “Beth 2.0” with her sunny disposition, but also having a “world-weary toughness.”

What do you think of this TWD theory? Did Heath and Tara encounter the Whisperers in the trailer? If so, what do you expect to happen with the group and the Alexandrians when the show returns to AMC?

The Walking Dead Season 7 premieres on October 23.
