Jon Gosselin On His Continued Estrangement From 4 Of His 8 Kids: When Will Kate Speak?

Jon Gosselin is speaking out on his fractured relationships with several of his eight kids. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the former Jon and Kate Plus 8 star said he has not seen all eight of his children together in at least three years. Gosselin said he now sees just a few of his kids every other weekend, and he never knows ahead of time who he will get.

After Jon and Kate Gosselin divorced in 2009, Kate was awarded primary custody of their twins, Cara and Mady, now 15, and sextuplets, Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel, who are now 12. And at first, Jon’s visitation included all eight kids.

“Everybody used to come to my house,” Jon told ET. “You know, it was great, and then Madelyn and Cara just stopped coming, around 12-13 [years old]. I didn’t question it. I was just like, ‘Hey, do what you want, be with your friends’ and then it just became they’re not coming.”

Gosselin said that when he was down to six kids, he just focused on the children that wanted to be with him. But then his son Collin just stopped coming altogether, with no explanation.

“I thought, maybe he just wants to do stuff with Mommy or whatever, and then it became long term,” Jon explained to ET. Jon Gosselin has not seen his son Collin for two years now.

“I haven’t seen all eight of my kids together probably …three to four years,” Jon said. “The kids that I do get are Hannah, Leah, Joel, and Aaden. I guess the four have stuck together and said, ‘We’re going to Daddy’s and that’s it’… Sometimes I get Alexis, but not often. Madelyn and Cara, I don’t see that much, or often. We’re kind of not talking right now.”

Gosselin added that he would like to reconcile with his oldest daughters, who turn 16 in October.

“I hope I can talk to them and develop a relationship in the future. But there’s a lot of stuff that has to go on before that.”

While he’s currently estranged from some of his kids, Jon Gosselin has been vocal about the fact that he has no relationship at all with his ex-wife Kate. Gosselin told ET that he and his ex have their lives with their kids separately and they never go anywhere together.

Earlier this year, Jon Gosselin told Yahoo Celebrity that he has no control over which of his kids he sees and he can’t afford to fight his ex-wife in court over it.

“I get who I get,” Jon said. “Whoever comes through that gate or gets off that [school] bus is who I get. And Collin is homeschooled, so he doesn’t get off a bus. If the kids want to come, they come. I love them all, but I am going to focus on the ones that want to come. My hands are tied.”

Jon Gosselin has claimed he walked away from the couple’s reality TV fortune so Kate could support their eight children and keep them in their large Pennsylvania home.

“I gave her $3 million,” Jon told Yahoo. “I walked away. I moved. [I said], ‘Take all of it.’ It was a moral sacrifice for my children.”

While Jon Gosselin has been doing a lot of talking about his non-existent relationship with his ex-wife and some of their kids, Kate Gosselin has been quiet on the topic. The mom of eight vowed long ago that she wouldn’t trash talk her ex in public, and she seems to be sticking with it.

According to Us Weekly, last year Kate Gosselin told reporters at the Television Critics Association panel that she has no relationship at all with Jon, but she accused him of sabotaging her co-parenting efforts.

“I don’t have [a relationship with him anymore],” Kate said. “Some of the kids visit and some don’t and I keep the peace. That’s what I’ve always done. It’s best for the kids. It’s very clear by now that I’m just trying to preserve what relationship he has with them … But it’s really difficult when one parent is in the sabotaging mode.”

While Jon has talked about his custody arrangement multiple times in the past few months (in addition to his ET and Yahoo interviews, Gosselin appeared on Steve Harvey’s talk show earlier this year), Kate has not commented on it.

Jon Gosselin has also asked fans to stop tagging him and his ex-wife in social media posts because it “causes drama.”
