Apple Third Quarter Earnings To Reflect iPad Pro, iPhone 6s, And Apple Watch Sales

Apple will soon announce recent earning results. Mac Rumors has the news.

“Apple today will release its fiscal third quarter earnings results, reflecting a three-month period that ended in late June, and the consensus among analysts is that the company will report a second consecutive decline in iPhone sales and overall revenue. That same scenario played out last quarter for the first time since 2003.”

Sales of Apple’s 9.7-inch iPad Pro will be heavily reflected in those sales figures, especially since the tablet was released at the end of March. The smaller version of the iPad Pro was very well received. Mashable‘s Lance Ulanoff is just one of the sources to provide praise of the new iPad Pro.

“Did Apple just raise the price of the best iPad? Yes, it did. Is it worth it? When you consider the components and storage in the $599, 9.7-inch iPad Pro, absolutely. I don’t know if this new Pro model will revitalize the iPad market, but with the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, Apple has certainly given it its best effort. I know I will find it hard to switch back to using an iPad Air 2.”

There are others who love the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro, but don’t think it can replace a laptop.

“Calling it a full-blown laptop replacement is a stretch, but Apple’s new 9.7-inch iPad Pro is the best conventional tablet the company has made. It combines the power of the original 12.9-inch iPad Pro with the thin frame of the iPad Air 2,” claimed Chris Velazco of Engadget, noting that the iPad Pro had a gorgeous screen, a slim design, and an outstanding camera.

Besides the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, sales for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will figure into the report. However, that may not be such a good thing. BGR recently reported that the Samsung Galaxy S7 series is outselling both the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus.

“For the first time since April last year, Samsung regained the No. 1 spot in the U.S. smartphone market, new research shows. According to a new report from Hong Kong-based Counterpoint Research seen by Business Korea, Samsung accounted for 28.8% of the U.S. market for the month of March.”

The article notes that Apple dropped to second place with 23 percent of the market, and LG took the third spot with 17.1 percent. It is thought that the reason Apple is lacking in smartphone sales is because of a definite lack of innovation. The 6s and 6s Plus weren’t much different from the 6 and 6 Plus iPhones. However, the fact that the latest series wasn’t given a new number means that Apple never intended for the 2015 iPhone to be a huge upgrade. However, there have been persistent rumors that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7s won’t be much of an upgrade, either. After leaks of iPhone’s 2016 devices, many have noted that the “upgrade” this year will be minimal, as well.

Last month, Mashable, a site that usually praises Apple, published an article titled, “The iPhone 7 sounds like it will be totally boring.”

“When Apple CEO Tim Cook gets on stage this fall and talks about all the great things people are doing with their iPhones and then hands it off to senior vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller to tell us all about the innovations of the iPhone 7, I’ll be tweeting and snickering about how they should tell us something we didn’t already know,” says Mashable author Raymond Wong, who notes that Apple has switched to a new design every three years instead of every two.

Besides the new iPhones, Apple is also set to release the Apple Watch 2 this quarter. Sales for the first Apple Watch have been disappointing, although many say an improved Apple Watch could definitely light fire to the smartwatch market. Do you think Apple has seen its best days, or do you think the Cupertino company has surprises up its sleeve?
