Ivanka Steals The Show: Trump’s Daughter Was The Star On The Biggest Night Of Donald’s Political Career

The final night of the 2016 Republican National Convention was supposed to be the shining moment of Donald Trump’s newfound political career. Trump was to give the speech that all the Republican delegates have been waiting for and accept the Republican nomination in the running for the president of the United States.

Donald’s speech lasted an hour and 15 minutes, and the entire floor of the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, hung on nearly every word. There was applause following nearly every statement as Trump drove home that it was time to put “America First” while touching on a number of domestic issues.

The speech was not as well received by those in the media, as many stated that it seemed as if Donald was running for dictator rather than the president. Even Bernie Sanders chimed in with a tweet of his own as he watched the speech unfold from home.

The phrase “fear mongering” was thrown around often last night by the media following Trump’s speech.

The New York Times wrote, “With dark imagery and an almost angry tone, Mr. Trump portrayed the United States as a diminished and even humiliated nation, and offered himself as an all-powerful savior who could resurrect the country’s standing in the eyes of both enemies and law-abiding Americans.”

I’m not here to tell which side of the line I stand on — you have the right to draw your own opinions and feelings of the speech. If you loved the speech like it seemed many on the convention floor did last night, then that’s your prerogative. And if you sided with many in the media, then that’s your right as an American as well. I’m here to talk about one thing: Ivanka Trump.

Ivanka introduced her father on stage prior to his acceptance speech and proceeded to steal the show. Ivanka obviously painted a great picture of her father and tried to sway undecided voters into believing that Donald is the right man for the job, but she did it in a way that was composed, eloquent, and in her own words.

Elite Daily’s Alexandra Svokos called Ivanka’s speech “bewildering” because it was such a progressive speech, nearly the complete opposite of what Donald’s campaign has been about. Donald has been pushing national safety, preventing Muslims from entering America, building a wall along the Mexican border, and siding with the police while the Ivanka’s speech didn’t mention any of those rallying cries.

Instead, Ivanka chose to focus on equal pay for women and child care, both of which are pushed heavily by the Democrats and not by Republicans.

“Women are paid equally for the work that we do, and when a woman becomes a mother, she is supported, not shut out,” Ivanka said. “Women represent 46 percent of the total U.S. labor force, and 40 percent of American households have female primary breadwinners.”

“In 2014, women made 83 cents for every dollar earned by a man. Single women without children earned 94 cents for each dollar earned by a man, whereas married mothers made only 77 cents. As researchers have noted, gender is no longer the factor creating the greatest wage discrepancy — motherhood is. As president, my father will change the labor laws that were put in place at a time in which women were not a significant part of the workforce, and he will focus on making quality childcare affordable and accessible for all.”

Ivanka’s speech inspired some shocked remarks from experts on Twitter.

As someone who doesn’t identify as Republican or Democrat, it was refreshing to hear Ivanka’s speech as she didn’t care about party lines, only about what she cared for as an American. In my humble opinion, Ivanka Trump completely outdid her father, Donald, on the biggest night of his political career, and it wasn’t close.
