Brock Lesnar USADA Anti-Doping Violation: Teammate Claims Asthma Inhaler Possible Culprit

Last week, the MMA community, especially the casual fans who exclusively follow the UFC, was extremely vocal when the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) made it known Brock Lesnar failed his post-fight drug test. Now, there is news of one of Lesnar’s teammates claiming Lesnar’s asthma inhaler is the culprit for “The Beast” testing dirty.

According to an article by Wrestling News Source, it reports that a user on an online forum board who goes by the moniker D2 claims a simple asthma inhaler is what caused Lesnar to fail his drug test. D2 also claims to be a teammate of Lesnar, and he says that Lesnar takes said asthma inhaler during certain times of the year. Apparently, right after UFC 200: Tate vs. Nunes, during his post-fight drug test, was one of those times.

“Brock suffers from what’s called RAD, otherwise known as reactive airway disease. His doctor for years has prescribed him Advair Diskus (an inhaler), which helps him breathe during the late spring and summer months here in Minnesota when he has episodes. This drug is classified as Beta-2 Agonists. So this is why he got popped by USADA. It’s really just a formality though, because he should of been given a TUE just like people do who have ADHD and take Adderall that fight in the UFC, or other pain killers for injuries. He passed the other 7 tests and was not using any GH or Anabolic agents of any kind which everyone is assuming.”

Nevertheless, Mark Hunt, the fighter who was decimated by Brock Lesnar at UFC 200: Tate vs. Nunes, is livid. He is actually threatening the UFC to give him half of Lesnar’s fight purse, which would account to $1.25 million. Either that or Hunt will quit the UFC.

Despite the situation, Brock Lesnar did say that “we will get to the bottom” of the doping test, as reported by USA Today. What this means is Lesnar is cooperating with the UFC, USADA, and any other parties involved with his drug test. It should be noted through that Lesnar was tested numerous times prior to fighting Mark Hunt at UFC 200: Tate vs. Nunes, a total of three times over a nine-day period in mid-June, just days before the sample with the potential violation was collected. Ergo, the statement by teammate D2 on the online forum boards might have some credence if said drug is in fact from an asthma inhaler.

Also, Brock Lesnar’s pop for testing dirty comes at a bad time. Just days prior to UFC 200: Tate vs. Nunes, Jon Jones popped for an illegal substance by the USADA. At the time, the drug was not revealed in which everyone thought it was PEDs, but according to fellow UFC fighters Rashad Evans and Chael Sonnen, it was estrogen blockers. Specifically, estrogen blockers are not considered PEDs but are used as post-cycle therapy. Summarized, it prevents the excess production of estrogen caused by heightened testosterone levels in the body, which may cause gynecomastia (man boobs) or increased subcutaneous fat.

At this moment, the investigation in Brock Lesnar’s failed drug test is on-going. However, if Lesnar is found guilty of the violation, he may face a violation by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) of $1.25 million up to $1.875 million, according to 411Mania.
