There isn’t a whole lot known about Blade Runner 2 as the long-awaited sequel is just going to be accepted no matter what it brings to theaters. Well, as time goes on, more and more information will be coming forth and now, there is something very bleak to look forward to. Some concept art has now been revealed for the Blade Runner sequel which shows that Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford are going to have to deal with a very grim future in Los Angeles.

Everyone has been waiting to know what the sequel to the 1982 cult classic would be like, and it certainly seems as if no one is going to be disappointed. Entertainment Weekly has revealed some concept art for Blade Runner 2 , and it shows something to be excited about, but certainly not if it’s the reality of your life.

Let’s just say that Los Angeles in the future looks to be something that is extremely dull, grim, and not full of any semblance of hope.

The original was directed by Ridley Scott and starred Harrison Ford who will be joining Gosling for the sequel which is to be directed by Denis Villeneuve ( Sicario ). He went and saw the original in theaters over 30 years ago and knew it was perfect, but he never knew what it would hold for his very own future.

“I remember the opening sequence perfectly. (Have seen it) thousands of times. That note of music; seeing Los Angeles in 2019; that smog; that darkness. It’s really the movie that gave birth to my desire to become a director.”

When he was asked to direct the Blade Runner sequel, he was in awe and shocked, but he also didn’t want to take the job right away. Villeneuve wanted to promise himself that he could do the original film justice, and by the look of the concept art, he’s fulfilling that promise.

As of now, there is really not a lot known about the plot of the film, but it is known that it will take place several decades after the original. It will take place in a futuristic Los Angeles which, as the concept art shows, is not really flourishing or doing well.

Los Angeles now encompasses the majority of the West Coast, and the director says that the weather patterns have gone quite insane.

“The climate has gone berserk – the ocean, the rain, the snow is all toxic.”

The vehicle shown in one of the pieces of concept art is a snow blower of sorts that actually hovers over the streets it is trying to clear. The only thing is that it doesn’t just clear the snow, but it completely destroys and obliterates it.

Coming from the cold streets of Canada, Villeneuve says that it’s something residents of his country would long for.

Harrison Ford is coming back to take on the role of Rick Deckard, but one that is now “full of wisdom and good advice.” That information will serve others well, and it will possibly help characters played by those played by Robin Wright and/or Ryan Gosling.

Blade Runner 2is set to open in theaters on October 6, 2017, and it is going to have a rather stellar cast. Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Carli Juri, David Dastmalchian, and many others will help bring to life a Los Angeles that needs a lot of help in the future, and this concept art proves just as much.
