Steve and Cynthia Faber are still newlyweds, but the issues of married life have definitely settled in. But the prosperous time in their lives has taken a sudden turn since Cynthia has found out that she is pregnant, and Steve has just been fired from the firm. To make matters worse, this is all happening at Christmas when The Fabers are expecting their respective families to come in for the holidays.
Like any Christmas holiday, there will be several dinners and parties that have to be organized and arranged, coupled with the usual chaos that goes into having a Christmas family get-together. Plus, having Steve’s mother come in for the holidays adds another layer of stress for Cynthia since they don’t get along.
Despite their differences, Cynthia plans on making her mother-in-law feel at home. Meanwhile, Steve knows that the loss of his job is going to cause a hitch in their finances. Now, he just needs to cut back on some bills and do his best to make it through the holidays while trying to figure out the best time to break the news to Cynthia.
