Prince George even threw a minor tantrum during his outing at an air show with his parents on Friday, but it might have just been too much noise and excitement.

It was an exciting day for the young royals as two-year-old Prince George attended his first official engagement with his father, Prince William, and his mother, Kate Middleton, at the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford.

According to a report in the Business Standard, the royal toddler, who is due to turn three on July 22, loves airplanes, so it was a great moment for him. George even got to sit in the cockpit of one of Britain’s famous Red Arrows at what is the world’s largest military air show, held in Gloucestershire on July 8.

However, while it was great for the young Prince to see all the various airplanes and helicopters up close and personal, just before boarding a helicopter with his parents, George began to throw a tantrum, just like any other over-excited kid.

While the cause of his minor outburst is unknown, it could have just been all the loud noises coming from the helicopter, and as soon as his mother Kate picked him up, he calmed down. He then wore noise-canceling headphones to block out some of the noise.

They seemed to do the trick as Flight Lieutenant Jim Hobkirk of the Central Flying School Exam Wing, who showed the Squirrel helicopter to Prince William, Kate, and George said, “He seemed overawed with the noise and being inside a helicopter.”

“It was a nice family moment. The Duke [William] was talking about ways of flying. George was very, very quiet.”

Reportedly, George did seem to be nervous about sitting inside the helicopter and preferred to sit in the back seat with Kate, rather than upfront near the controls with dad.

Hobkirk added, “We shut the doors so they could have a quiet moment to themselves. The Duke was telling him, ‘I used to fly these.’ George was very quiet.”

After that, Hobkirk said everyone was just trying to keep George happy. “There was a lot going on for him with the noise from all these airplanes. He seemed quite subdued in the end.”

However, despite the young royal’s brief tantrum, it does appear George enjoyed his outing as he was later seen to be waving to the crowd and pointing at planes in the sky.

Hobkirk added that he imagines William had told the young Prince about helicopters, and George was overheard to keep saying “tail rotor” as he picked up a little technical knowledge along the way.

According to the International Business Times, young George will no doubt be more than interested in airplanes and everything related to them in later life.

Reportedly back in February, Cadet Lucinda Conder told the media at the 75th anniversary of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets that Kate had said the young Prince really liked airplanes. After George was shown a photo of a Spitfire fighter plane, Middleton reportedly told the group that he was “obsessed” with air cadets and wants to join up when he’s older.

With his third birthday coming up shortly, Prince George also received an early gift recently. Back in May, Prince William visited the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, where he was presented with a pair of yellow RNLI Wellington boots for George, and a teddy bear wearing a pink top for the newer addition, Princess Charlotte. Reportedly the gifts were a big hit with the Duke of Cambridge, who joked that George would soon grow into the Wellington boots.
