Netflix And The CW Sign Huge Exclusive Deal — Here Is When You’ll Be Able To Stream Your Favorite Shows

It’s something that fans of numerous genres have wanted for a long time, and now, all their prayers have been answered. Netflix and The CW have reached an exclusive deal that will have some of the most popular shows on television come streaming into your home. Shows like The Flash, Arrow, Supernatural, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Vampire Diaries, and many more will soon be available as you wish, but there’s one small, slight catch.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, those rumors of a deal happening between Netflix and The CW turned out to be true. The companies have signed a multiyear streaming deal, but fans won’t be able to binge-watch their favorite shows right away and get ahead of everyone else.

For new seasons, there is going to be a small window of time between the date it ends on The CW and the date it arrives on Netflix. The good thing is that it is nowhere near as long as it used to be.

Yes, unlike Netflix original series such as House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, new seasons won’t be available immediately in their entirety. New seasons of shows from The CW will air all the way through on television first and then, eight days later, land on Netflix, according to content head Ted Sarandos.

“Netflix members in the U.S. love the great lineup of series from The CW, and we are thrilled to extend the relationship and bring those shows to our members exclusively now, just eight days after their season finales.”

There is the possibility of binge-watching, but it would entail someone not watching during the season and waiting until it ends. That could prove to be very difficult for fans of the more popular TV series that The CW presents.

Still, it does give new fans the chance to catch up as previous seasons will come to Netflix as well since the streaming service does now have the U.S. subscription television service rights. This joint venture between Warner Bros. Entertainment and CBS Corporation is giving scripted shows a new solo home.

The current deals that the CW has with Netflix and Hulu is coming to an end later this year, after having been created in 2011.

Here are just some of the TV series that will soon land exclusively on Netflix.

  • The Flash
  • The Vampire Diaries
  • Arrow
  • Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
  • Jane the Virgin
  • Supergirl
  • DC’s Legends of Tomorrow
  • The 100
  • iZombie
  • The Originals
  • Reign

New shows such as Riverdale, No Tomorrow, and Frequency are also going to be included in this deal.

One of the cool things about this new deal is that it also includes all future programs produced for The CW during the length of the agreement with Netflix. This all starts with the 2015-2016 broadcast season that just ended.

After the 2016-2017 is over for each show’s season, Netflix viewers will be able to stream the entire season of that show just eight days after the season finale.

This is an absolutely monumental deal for Netflix viewers as they typically had to wait about a year before a new season of a show from The CW was available for streaming. Now, that time frame has been dropped to a mere eight days, and that’s incredible.

Knowing that hits from the CW are going to soon be available on Netflix is one truly incredible thing to happen for a lot of people. Some may not find it easy to get full seasons after they air on TV, but it makes sense for The CW to do it that way. Netflix will still get plenty of business with past seasons of Arrow, iZombie, The Flash, The Vampire Diaries, and many others, so this is turning into a gigantic winning situation for everyone.
